End Of The Line For DS Web Browser?

Post by racketboy »

It has its critics, but I actually enjoy my browser when I'm on the road (especially airports with wifi)
But I guess the bad reviews and lack of interest has cause the DS browser to be discontinued:

But MattG hits my main complaint on the nose: I can't have any games in the DS when using the browser.
It would be nice to be able to swtich between browsing and playing without switching cartridges out.

Quite unfortunate - I picked up the Japanese browser for my cousin when I was in Japan and helped her get it setup on her home wireless network. Very portable and easy to use! Better then my PSP browser any day.

I think a dump came out for the m3, so you could just have the m3 and the ram cart and not have to carry multiple games

Yeah, but I'm not looking to spend that much money on an M3 yet...
And I thought you had to have something in the GBA slot for the M3...?

A lot of the DS flash cart solutions are confusing to me...

Well for one I found browsing with the touch screen much easier then using the PSP. Speedwise - I would say they are about equal but I constantly get out of memory errors with the PSP browser. Only real downsides I see with the DS browser is its lack of proper WPA (at least when I used it) and flash support.

Yeah, I guess the stylus is a major plus :D
Now I have a hard time imaging a handheld experience without a stylus...

I don't see much use for Flash support other than Youtube videos or games -- but then those would take forever to download anyway...

There are some called m3 simply and others called r4, both are slot1 only and cost around $50 shipped

So how do you get software on it?
I thought you needed the GBA cart for the SD adapter...

I think the PSP's browser is much sleeker than the DS browser. Pointing at links is easier than moving the pointer with that little nub, but the PSP browser can do flash - at least enough to get me watching Strongbad, which is all I need. :)

http://www.realhotstuff.com/expansion-pack-p-194.html This little doohickey was originally for the EZ-5 cart, which for reasons I won't go into(unless asked) I don't recommend. You can now get this to work with the R4, though. It acts as a rumble pack, memory for a GBA game(only one) and memory for the browser.
