Call of Pripyat

Post by MrPopo »

I know we have some STALKER fans on the board, and I just discovered that Call of Pripyat is out (at least on Amazon). Last I had heard the game wasn't yet available for preorder off Amazon, but as I was browsing GameFAQs I saw it as a top 10 wanted FAQs. Has anyone snagged this yet? My copy will be arriving Wednesday, but I was hoping for some impressions in the meantime.

Damn, I still have barely touched Clear Sky. I've gotten all the way to the NPP in SoC, but I kept getting gunned down on the way in and ended up restarting my game. Maybe I'm going to have to go on a STALKER binge. Except Bioshock 2 is arriving tomorrow.

Dammit! Too many good games are coming out.

Yes, dooooo want. I haven't gotten all the way through Clear Sky either, but it mostly has to do with being so pissed about the grenade-sniping... Anyway, I have read a couple of reviews and it looks like they fixed a lot of issues the first two games were having and made things more streamlined.

Sweet deal, I want it. I'm actually almost to the end of Clear Sky, I'm currently sitting in the old hospital. I love these games. I just hope I don't have to upgrade my computer to play them...again...

According to wikipedia Pripyat still runs on DX9 hardware and from the GameFAQs boards it sounds like they didn't really upgrade their assets; they just redid the maps and AI and such. So I think you'll be fine.

Sweet deal. As soon as I've got the money to spend on games I'll be looking for this.

I hope it retains the reasonable sysreqs from the previous incarnations! If it's running the same (modified I'm sure) engine then it ought to run on my clunky old PC.

Ok, I looked it up. Apparently the game's been out since Feb. 2, though it did come out in Russia and the CIS last October.

Think I'll do what I've done with all the others. Wait until somebody fixes the bugs before playing. Especially since the debacle that was the first game where saves weren't compatible in subsequent patches.

I still have to play the other two STALKER games I bought before I can consider buying Pripyat.

Supposedly this one doesn't have near the amount of bugs as the rest.
