I play the Playstation 2 version. It's lovely with a dualshock controller or arcade pad.

No classic controller support, so Gamecube Wavebird is the way to go. (Unless you already have a Gamecube Arcade Stick)

By contrast, the Samurai Shodown Anthology has no Gamecube support (from what I've been told)... which kinda sucks. I would get it if it had Gamecube support, because then I could use a Gamecube arcade stick. Guess I'll have to stick with the PS2 version.

I like to bite the end of the Wii Nunchuck before I throw the grenade.

It's a hell of a lot better than two PS2 version. The PS2 version has some crazy slowdown in places, the version didn't.

The only problem is the wii controls suck. Waggle for grenades is really annoying but It's not a massive headache. You're gonna want to use a wavebird or a gamecube controller.

Or get one of those Classic Controller to Gamecube adapters.

There are five or six control schemes but most people play with the hold it like an NES controller:
dpad = move
1 = jump
2 = shoot
shake = grenade
(though I may have jump and shoot reversed).

It is annoying, and since Metal Slug 1&2 were released on the VC I just sold my copy.

The gamecube controls work fine: B is shoot, A is jump (as they always should be), and X is grenade. I don't think it works with the d-pad, but frankly, i always use the control stick anyway.

I always prefer using the analogue control because I find it had to aim up and move left and right with a dpad. So if you don't mind moving your right hand upwards to throw a grenade then you can get by with the nunchuk+wiimote controls. Gamecube controls are definitely the best option though.
