Possible fake Secret of Mana?

I was snooping around eBay today and found

Bid on it and won! But something gets me... I don't remember the cart having that slope on that cart. My past copies always look like



Can someone confirm this?

mine has the slope, mine came from a pawn shop not ebay

But if you're still concerned, when you get the cart open it up and look at the PCB. It's very easy to spot fakes. If you can't tell, take a picture of the front and back and post it here, we'll tell ya.

What exactly are we looking at here? I can't see any difference between either cartridge apart from the protector on the bottom.

Our American carts had two variations. Earlier carts had that notch in them, so when the system is powered on the cart gets locked in. This is what SFC and PAL SNES carts have, no? You can't remove it unless you slide the power off.

Later American carts have the slope design, so if you go to remove the cart it'll power the system off.

Ziggy. Once I get it I check the PCB and post updates here. Lucky I bought the GameBit a couple months ago.

OOOOOH Now I see it. I guess the little cartridge protector on the bottom was obscuring it a little. Never knew you guys had different cartridge shells. All our cartridges (EU) are the same locking types. We have to press an eject button to get our cartridges out y'see.

We press eject as well. I think they changed it because the thickies over here started breaking their consoles. You can tell when a game came out by the shell design.

Mine is also sloped. I bought mine used, but complete back when the SNES was still out. Also, as I keep going on and on and on (and on) about, check the warning label on the back. If it has a number physically stamped in it, you can be pretty sure its legit when it comes to Nintendo carts. GB carts with no back label will be stamped in the front.
