lol.
anyone else kinda interesting in looking at the video in question....might be worth a laugh.
can a saturn with a mod chip play sega cd games?
Re: can a saturn with a mod chip play sega cd games?
Maybe. It's not hard to find, it's the video right before the Dreamcast with that new mod chip. You know, that new mod chip for the Dreamcast that allows you to play Saturn AND Sega CD games
...maybe I should post this, some one will find it in a Google. I guess this is how interweb rumors start?
God, if that's what mod chips could do...

When I was your age, I had to walk 10 miles though 8 feet of snow to get to school, had to walk up to the TV to change channels, and go to a library to find out that Atari 2600 games don't work on an NES.
The least you could do, OP, is a bloody Google search.

Hey OP guy, did you know that the cartridge slot in the back of the Sega Saturn is actually a slot for Genesis/32x games?
.......seriously SegaCD on Saturn? No, it doesn't work that way along with that back slot only being for memory backup/ram expansion. You need a SegaCD system/CDX to play SegaCD software.

Really? I'm going to go and try that! Cool!Upsidedown Fuji wrote:Hey OP guy, did you know that the cartridge slot in the back of the Sega Saturn is actually a slot for Genesis/32x games?
Do you think it plays Master System games as well? How about Japanese SG-1000 and Mark III games? Do you know what else it can do? Do you think I can fit a Sega Model 2 arcade PCB in there? Will the Saturn just play it with a mod chip?

Actually there is a video on Youtube with a Sega CD in a Saturn shell.
But in the video the poster is talking about, he says plays a backup of Guardian Heroes for the Saturn in a Saturn.
And then he puts a Sega cd backup in a Sega Cd and plays it

That's what I'm talking about, I wonder why this mod isn't more common, making a Sega "Neptune" I mean. I guess cause you would really need to use a CDX and they're kinda expensive. Not to mention you have to sacrifice the CDX system, and they're a little rare. I guess this is why people don't try to make them often.hailrazer wrote:Actually there is a video on Youtube with a Sega CD in a Saturn shell.

You'd be sacrificing the Saturn as well. Absolutely pointless mod, other than for the "WTF" factor.Ziggy587 wrote:That's what I'm talking about, I wonder why this mod isn't more common, making a Sega "Neptune" I mean. Re: can a saturn with a mod chip play sega cd games?
Yeah, but there's tons of busted Saturns out there. I have one that I can't seem to get working. I wouldn't call it pointless, having an all-in-one Genesis/CD/32X would be really nice considering what a pain in the ass the add ons are. Even if you have a CDX, the 32X is still a huge piece of shit with an extra power adapter. An all-in-one system the size of a Saturn would be really nice to have, in my opinion. Maybe it would even be possible to do something about the 3 power adapters needed.
edit: Well actually, I think the Neptune was just suppose to be a Genesis and a 32X in one, not a Sega CD.

So that would mean you wouldn't need to use a CDX for this mode. That being the case, I really don't know why I don't see this mod more often.
I got mixed up, but it is my own desire to fit a Sega Genesis/CD/32X into one compact console.
