I know down here (Queensland Australia) the import scene hasn't really declined all that heavily. Certainly not in the town where I live. But I have noticed less small cars and more larger V8's and the like recently. Which doesn't really make alot of sence when you consider fuel prices being as they are, heck that's why I got rid of mine.

Hot Rodding is a dying art, everyone now modding Computers/Game machines. I myself have spent more time Video Gaming and pounding away on this keyboard. Whenever I want to get some fresh air I take the '62 out.

See my Avatar? Its a nitrous 327 motor. Used to have all kinds of Speed shops here for guys like me including Super Shops and Chrome Barn. My main source now is Auto Zone, Kragen and on line Jegs. One of my local Kragen stores actually has a section that carries Holley, Edelbrock and other V8 parts on display. But only one in town.

My Solution?
I have combined both of my hobbies. At car shows I open the trunk, have LCD screen and PS2/DC setup. Sounds are from Two Rockford Fosgates and 4 10" woofers. Topped off with Blaze Dual Player Arcade controller really a crowd pleaser. And yes have spare battery isolated, embarrassing if I couldn't fire up that motor afterwards.

We all grew older.
Even my nephew who used to drive a older Honda IROC fiberglass shell now drives a stock new one.

On my end that '62 is my High School Car! I will drive this car till I die. When that 510 lift cam rumbles there to me is nothing sweeter!

The point Alpinex2 was making is Car Customizing is a losing art. Anyone who has turned a wrench can appreciate another person's ride be it a Loud Cammed Hot Rod like mine, a Fast Cornering Honda or a Metallic Painted Low Rider. I can admire anyone who put sweat and time into their cars. It is just another era of Modding like the guy who builds portable Super Nintendos. Both take something factory and make it their unique own. What is not to appreciate in that?

Here in Aus the market for large V8 muscle cars is as healthy as ever (healthier infact), couple that lots of young guys around here with loads of disposable income means I mostly see new Australian V8's.

However, there are a few old dogs kicking around here who also make good money and love thier cars so there is (if you know where to look) an excelent assortment of old muscle both local and American. Infact as I type this I'm looking out at a workmates 68 mustang cs. Actually there are alot of old 60's mustangs kicking aroud out here, ranging from 65's to 69 fastbacks.

Now saying all this doesn;t mean that there no modded Japanese cars, quite the opposite. I've never seen so many R32,R33,R34 GTR skylines in my life as I've seen around here in the last 3 years. Same goes for for s14's, supra's and chasers.
