Great, we have a topic on No Russian, three months afterward.

It's a game, get over it. You're not really shooting anybody, no one's blood is really getting spilled. I'm also tired of this "It'd be just as effective if you played as one of the civilians and ran away from the 'terrorist'." Bullshit, no it wouldn't.
Two reasons:
1. The whole point is that you're under cover and you have to kill innocent people. It's like watching a movie about a NARC from the perspective of one of the druggies. It's not the same.

2. Infinity Wars wants the controversy. It's not like they all of a sudden stepped into a minefield and shit started blowing up, IW is setting off fireworks. While we're at it, I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom went the same route thanks to the "OMG! RE5 IS RACIST!" scandal.

The mission is completely irrelevant to the rest of the plot. There is absolutely no need for it to be in there as far as a valid cohesive element of plot. The whole point of it being in there is to spark controversy. I think the game would have been much better without it. The nuke in the first game was much better than this piece of shit mission. At least that was symbolic and totally unexpected.

I think I would have preferred a mission where you flew a couple of planes into some skyscrapers. If you're going to flaunt the whole terrorism thing, then at least get the balls and do it properly. Why not a jihad mission where you blow up a bus in a quiet street in London. Fuck, why not blow the fucking tube up? If they're going to make a statement with this shit at least make a real one. Why not virtual baby rape simulator while we're at it, with added 'take a dump on the carcass' finishing move?

To think this shit got so many people's panties in a bunch, I'd hate to see what happens when a developer really pushes the boat out.

Yep, very true. The only platform that this game would be worth playing on is absolutely crippled due to the idiotic decision to have it P2P only.

The level itself doesn't disturb me that much; I think it's weird, and it wasn't my favorite part of the game, but it's not like I'm picketing somewhere because of it.

The only part that's off-putting about it is the glee some people get from that level in particular. It's simulating a terrorist act where you kill unarmed, innocent people. Why would you enjoy that part especially, is all I ever wondered.

The only reason they put that in there, I'm sure, is for controversy, i.e., free publicity/advertising. I still think it's distasteful.
