Re: Your thoughts about owning duplicates of the same console
I will pick up an additional console if the price is cheap enough or if it offers a sufficient advantage over the one I already I have. EG NTSC N64 over PAL, or 60GB BC PS3 over 40GB PS3).
Sometimes a deal is too good to pass up, like my 60GB PS3, I didn't really need the BC since I have a PS2+HDD and a PStwo. But at £150 including box+HDMI+DS3+PSeye I couldn't really pass it up, I would've been nuts to pass that deal up, especially since they regularly go for at least £100 more than that sans boîte. Fiancée still wonders why I have two PS3s, the "I play PS2 games on it every now and then" just isn't a justifiable reason.
I also bought another PSone the other day because I needed one to test some PSone screens without having to fuck about finding a compatible power supply. It was £10 which was less than the petrol money to go to my mother's house and fish my other PSone out from her loft. No brainer really. Plus when I got it home it was chipped which is awesome.
BTW if anybody knows why it outputs NTSC video although it's a PAL system please visit this thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 17&t=18919

Well to stay on topic..... there's no problem with having multiple systems to play when one breaks or loses it's appeal. j/kFrag Mortuus wrote:Do you have more than one girlfriend, lolDaGamingMonkey wrote:. Re: Your thoughts about owning duplicates of the same console
Some duplicates are an absolute essential! I must have at least two copies of the following games at all times... just incase one goes down, acts up, or if I need to let a friend borrow the game.
Super Mario Bros 3 (my boxed copy has to stay on display
Mario 64 (just because i love this game and a copy should go along with any n64 sale)
Final Fantasy 7 (Black label copy stays mint)
Mario Kart (my favorite game on snes)
Plus I have many many duplicates of different editions of the same game. Street Fighter 2 comes to mind as I have it on the SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Satrun, PS2, and who knows how many other systems.

Re: Your thoughts about owning duplicates of the same console
I just realized you meant the same console.
Well I have a ton of duplicate consoles I have bought in big lots to get the games I wanted. I really need to sell allll of the duplicates except the NES. An NES anyone should have two of because they can be so finiky and plus who doesnt need a working nes at all times!?!
Lastly, I will end up having 2 xbox360's because one was just banned for being modded and I need some xbox live halo action.... so I will have to buy another unmodded system for live action and keep the modded system to play my 100 plus backups.

Re: Your thoughts about owning duplicates of the same console
I don't really think it's necessary. Like I saw a video of a guy who had 6 top loading NES systems. he doesn't need them. They're so rare and so many people want one. And he hogs six of them?
Re: Your thoughts about owning duplicates of the same console
What's the big deal? It's not like they do anything better than a regular NES with the 72-pin connector replaced. I could go on ebay and buy one right now without cutting into this guy's six. Also, it's not like people are actually suffering due to lack of a top-loading NES.darthmunky wrote:I don't really think it's necessary. Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

Oh, and then there's if you have 2 floors on your house obviously you need an NES on each floor. Most of my gaming stuff is in a big room in my basement with only 2 tiny windows. It sucks to wake up on a weekend morning and crawl into my gaming cave like some sort of troglodyte. Much better to play some NES in the living room while I drink my coffee.
