So I've always been a Nintendo guy since 1985 but after frequenting this forum for a while I'm interested in getting a Dreamcast.
I found one online in a local forum with 4 controllers/power/hookups and I offered the guy $25. Is that reasonable?
Dreamcast Question (Thinking of buying...)
Re: Dreamcast Question (Thinking of buying...)
in my opinion, yes it is. i mean when i got my DC two or so years ago, i only bought it for $20. does it not come with a vmu ( aka. memory card)?

Re: Dreamcast Question (Thinking of buying...)
Does sound like a good deal to me as well, just make sure all bases are covered, as you do want to test the system out with a game disc and a VMU, as VGA box can come later; do you have any games and VMU to test this out?
Re: Dreamcast Question (Thinking of buying...)
He's going to want one that can play backups. You can look up the specifics online, but I think it's any console manufactured in October 2000 and prior (most Dreamcasts). This is necessary if you want to play independent Dreamcast games.classicgamer5 wrote:When was it made because some can play backups
As a former Nintendo fanboy I've got to tell you that you seriously should get a Dreamcast. It's the system that got me into retro gaming and made me a huge Sega fan. I know it's a bit cliched, but the Dreamcast is my favorite console now. Picking one up was the best gaming decisions I ever made.

Plus there is tons of Home Brews and Emulators for the Dreamcast.
I think the DC has the best version of REZ, also there is a K-Project exclusive.
Developer games include Half Life and Propeller Arena.

Re: Dreamcast Question (Thinking of buying...)
25 dollars is a fine deal if everything is in good, working condition.

Re: Dreamcast Question (Thinking of buying...)
Yes, the best of the two, the Xbox 360 version is much better...But for the nostalgic and collector's purposes, it's not nearly the sameCRTGAMER wrote:Plus there is tons of Home Brews and Emulators for the Dreamcast.

It's not even so clear which version of the two is better:
Dreamcast version:
- Much sharper graphics on the background, enemies, bosses, opening, and in-game text
- Better digital control
PS2 version:
- Better rumble/vibration (+trance vibrator)
- Silky-smooth framerate
- Better analog control
