Nope, still terrible. Some games play at full speed, but the DS isn't really powerful enough to handle SNES emulation.

It seems if you want a portable emulation machine you should get a psp.

I just got a PSP and tried snes9x for it. Axelay played like ASS. I'm not sure there is a good portable snes emulator at the moment.

The Yobo FC-16 Go is great and portable. This system, combined with a SNES flashcart from http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php is probably the best thing to get if you want a portable SNES at the moment.

I am going to have to disagree. The latest release of SnemulDS is absolutely excellent. However, rule of thumb is there will always be some sort of graphical deficiency - its all a matter of toggling and fooling around with the settings. Another rule of thumb is - if it used an additional chip, it won't work (StarFox, Any of the Kirby games, Mario Kart).

It seems you like shmups. Have you tried NeoDS? It actually works full speed and will play ALL arcade ("MAME") NeoGeo ROMS.

You can still mod a PSP 3000 if the firmware is below 5.03. You just can't permanently mod it. Just run the ChickHEN hack.
