Yeah, after 2006 Sony no longer pressed the discs in Japan and no longer places a security seal on cases.

They did the same thing to PS2 Games in '06 and PS3 games have never had security labels at all. It always struck me as odd that they stopped putting the seals on.

My discs that I bought around my birthday early last year had a production stamp of Nov '08.
I will second this, at work we get them in new still

Where do you look for this information?
You could pop Disc in a Mac then right click "Get Info" on the Disk Icon Game Data Track.

On the PC just right click one of the Data files and choose properties.

Curious if those Re-pressings will show new Re-pressing or Original date though ............
Just checked mine on my windows PC through My Computer and it shows the last files on the disc being added in 2003. I'm guessing this was from when the glass pressing masters were switched after the Squaresoft and Enix merger in '03 as all the in-game/startup logos were changed from Squaresoft to Square-Enix in my copy.

So the plant maybe stop producing these back in 2003. Last of great PS1 games for a final printing. Then the warehouse overstock repackaged in 08. Amazon and Frys getting probably getting last of remaining stock on shelves.

Uhh, no.

The label clearly stated that the game was printed in 2008.

It's like CD's. I can go to Best Buy and buy Who's Next on CD knowing it's still in print,. But I'll still get a case and disc that only says it was copyright 1995 by WMG as that's when the CD pressing first came out.

Glass masters are INSANELY EXPENSIVE to produce so replacements do not occur unless something big happens like the Squaresoft and Enix merger back in '03.

I got Golf for NES for a whopping 99 cents, SimCity for SNES for a whopping 5 bucks, Resident Evil 2 for N64 for 8 bucks, and a complete copy of Rayman for PS1 for 5 bucks! Too bad Rayman doesn't wanna run in my PS2. That was the one game I was really really looking forward to playing. : (
NES, SNES, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GCN, Wii, PS3, 360, GB, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, PSP 3000, and 3DS XL

That's not really a problem, PS1s are dirt cheap and very common.

I know,
it was just an unexpected sight that brought a smile to my face. Walking into a major retail store and finding a couple of PS1 games on the shelves :D

And, thanks for the info on the labels.
