3DO game gun broken

Anyone have any tips for fixing my 3DO game gun ?

One time I got it working consistently, but only on one screen and only a certain distance from the television. A staggering majority of the time I cannot coax any sort of reaction from the gun. The standard pad works fine in both of these games.

I don't really know how to begin diagnosing the problem, so any tips would be appreciated.

I'm playing on an FZ-1 model with burned copies of Corpse Killer and Crime Patrol. They were only burned for testing purposes.

Is the TV a Non-HD CRT?

Is there a calibration in game screen? Maybe recalibrate gun to screen.

You might try TV brightness, contrast and any advanced settings related to picture such as interlace.

Also maybe something simple like the connections or dust on gun lens and TV screen.

Woops, just looked at your link looks like you have the gun taken apart. You might check for loose wire connections/solder joints and if all switches are making contact completing the circuits.

It is a standard CRT TV. Really crappy old brand too. Made by Orion . My Dreamcast light guns work on it just fine on it. I checked all the solder points and everything seemed to be connected, but I'll see check them again more thoroughly. I tried cleaning off the lens and it was still no good. I really cannot tell what's wrong with the thing . I'll try messing with my TV settings and see if it does any good.

Maybe older lightgun not as accurate as DC guns. TV settings brightness cranked up might help?

Too bad not a way to verify if gun is actually reading a signal.

I heard goldfish can see remote control signals ...................

Maybe you can zap one and see if it reacts to the gun ................

Okay now that is a ridiculous joke, still maybe might work .................

Just don't let the neighbors see or you might be wearing a strait jacket.

Oh never mind I'm throwing darts at the wall the gun reads not sends signal.

Anyways hopes the TV settings does the trick.
