Not exactly the ideal fit for the RPG section of the forum, but it's closer than fighters and shoot 'em ups...
Anyway, I recently posted a new Top 10 list and as always I'm curious to hear feedback from y'all. There's still room for two or three honorable mentions, so plenty of room for the list to grow. I haven't forgotten about classic adventure games in the form of point-and-click and text adventures, but those will get a list of their own...someday.
Here's the latest: http://timewarpgamer.com/top10s/action_adventures.html
As always, thanks for reading.

A very fair and honest list my friend. Glad to see the Legend of Mystical Ninja in the top 10, one of the only (and may I add, best) two player Action/Adventure titles on any platform.

Wonderboy is featured on the ps2 Sega Ages monster world collection.

Please update that and maybe a link to that collection.
It has FM sound and it is therefor the best version.
Great that it has a spot in the list. I had that game in mind as I opened the link. Had Wonderboy III not been in the list I would have also replied.

Re: Top 10 Action-Adventure 8/16-bit Console Games
Thanks, man. I remember playing Mystical Ninja for the first time and foolishly stopping after about five minutes because I wasn't impressed. Longer play revealed how varied and awesome the gameplay really is. Plus there are a million other Goemon Ganbare games for the NES and SNES that never made it outside Japan. Haven't had the time to play them all yet, but I wonder if one of them might be even better. Any idea?aeon wrote:A very fair and honest list my friend. Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchou is for the NES, rather than the SNES, right?

The Legend of Mystical Ninja is best played with a good friend, grips of pizza and beer. Only then is the humor fully appreciated.
I would love to enjoy the other Goemon games in same manner, but the lack of English text makes me a bit shy- I really wish there would have been some localization for them.

If you really want to play some other Goemon games, two did get localized for the US on the Nintendo 64.aeon wrote:The Legend of Mystical Ninja is best played with a good friend, grips of pizza and beer. Only then is the humor fully appreciated.

A few of the Other Recommendations would easily make the top ten for me, but I thoroughly enjoy most in the top ten - only one I couldn't enjoy much is ToeJam & Earl, which is a shame because I'd like to enjoy it as so many do.
Okie dokie, here are some games I like or have heard good things about that may fit the criteria:
Arkista's Ring
Light Crusader
Soleil (Crusader of Centy)
Wizards and Warriors III
Wonderboy in Monster World
I haven't played much Castlevania, but maybe there are some other Castlevania titles besides Simon's Quest that fit the criteria.
By the way, it's totally awesome that you have Ufouria in there - what a little known gem.
Great list, as always.
