Yeah, but a LaserDisc would've survived.
Not sure if Laser Disc would have. Basically same material as CD and DVD.
But there's one HUGE difference between them. LaserDics contain large amounts of

If you're gonna use it, make sure you input 80 px X 53 px or it will stretch the height out.
Yeah! I'll use it as my avatar! I tried to upload it but I think its still a little too big.

My Avatar was originally a 4 meg file. A great program to reduce the Pic is INFRAVIEW.

Well I got the dimensions right, it's no bigger than 80 pixels width or height. I think it was about 4.3KB in size... that's too big?

Yup, optical media sucks. Only a cartridge can take that kind of abuse.
Anti-mint indeed. Reminds me of Evil Ash in Army of Darkness

Yeah, 4K limit unless you're storing it yourself. Here's an 80x80 gif that's 3K with transparent top and bottom.

Totally awesome story. This give me much respect for carts. I once dropped a game boy color cartridge outside without realizing it. I found it two stormy days later in the mud, but it still worked great despite the rain.

analog for the win
so what's in the top half of an n64 cart anyway? if your game is still playable, does that mean the top half is just dead weight?

The PCB fills the inside of the cart, looks pretty much exactly like a SNES PCB if you've ever seen one. Thing is, there's a metal casing that completely surrounds the PCB. I guess that was enough to protect it in the oven for a while.
