Fake internet life

Post by Octopod »

So my wife uses this website for pregnant women and mothers and they have little due date group communities and stuff like that. Anyhow, my wife is always telling me stories about people I dont give a shit about and their kids. Usually I dont even really listen or i just ignore what she is saying. However she told me a story the other week and one again today which really has me wondering.

The other week this lady went on their and told everyone how her husband droped the baby at the park and it had some head injury and was in intensive care at the hospital and then it died. This all played out over a couple days. Well people got in touch with the ladies brother in law and it turned out she made the entire story up.

Now she tells me a story today about a woman who has been using the site for two years and supposedly lost a premature baby and then adopted a child and that child died and all kinds of other stuff along those lines. That her husband is some big fancy lawyers and all that kind of shit. I dont know how this one got caught but apparently everything she has been telling them for two years is all bullshit.

My question is this. What the fuck is wrong with people? Why do something like that? Why have a completely invented internet life? Is it for attention? Do people really care about what other people think that much? I do not give about shit about those two women or what they do they just merely highlight this for me. Is this kind of thing common?

Ok, its time for me to admit... every story, picture, and even text that I have posted is not mine... I have been copying and pasting posts from all different forums for years.

I really am that baby who was dropped in the park a couple weeks ago. Because of the fall the doctors installed a quad-core version of the Sega Genesis' 16/32-bit Motorola 68000 processor into my brain. I have now evolved to be a superior "forum story telling" bot because of the Blast Processing effect of quad-core CPU.

I think its for attention. They seem to not understand the concept of, YOU ARE TALKING TO ACTUAL PEOPLE WHEN POSTING ON THE INTERNET. People that tend to think the whole entire internet is an FML website.

The internet is the only place where people can anonymously get away with shit like this.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Who knows, right? I guess I'm just going to assume it is a common practise that I have somehow neglected to notice prior to these two events. Geez.

Alright... Since SpaceBooger has come forward, I think it is time for me to do so as well. I am actually Mr. Popo. I created a secondary account to fulfill my need of another life.

Really though, although that story is messed up, the internet is the perfect place for people like that to thrive. It's just sad that they duped a bunch of people like they did.

They're bored, so they fuck with other people behind a keyboard. What's hard to understand about that?

Some people have to have others feel bad about them. I dated a girl who did this on and off for several years. Finally now, a year after she broke up with me last, others have started to realize this.
