yeah, thats what i've heard. i remember really liking a few episodes after that one, but i'd probably have to watch the series from the beginning to really agree with that theory.BoringSupreez wrote:Some fans have even nailed down the specific episode that Simpsons jumped the shark on. That episode is called The Principal and the Pauper, if I remember correctly.latenitevacancy wrote:i back this. partially. i adore the simpsons, but season 1 was garbage. seasons 2-3 were both funnier, but season 4 is really when the show started getting magnificent. i still like the new episodes, but i'd say seasons 9-10 is definitely when it loss the magic.Hatta wrote:Seasons 1-9 are the only ones worth watching anyway.

Oh, come on, don't leave your uncle T-Bag hangin'!

I read that they chose to release S20 now as it was the first season released in HD. It does seem kind of stupid to have that big gap in there. Hopefully they release the rest soon.vlame wrote:they just released season 20 tho.

I think Groening and Co. are more preoccupied with breaking records than with the quality of the show. I've been watching The Simpsons since they were pn the Tracy Ullman show, and remain a big fan of the earlier seasons. I stopped religiously watching new episodes around six years ago, and can't really remember the last time I watched the show on a Sunday night.Betamax001 wrote:I think the Simpsons should have been canceled of 5 years ago if not now. I'm still bitter about the scheduling of the Treehouse of Terror episodes. Don't they air about a week after Halloween?

Well I have the first 10 seasons on R1 DVD but the transfer isn't that good. It's like they were recorded from VHS via s-video, ie colour bleeding and noise are quite obvious. Anyone else bothered by this?

I used to really be into the Simpsons, and I have to say that the show's peak was seasons 5-7.latenitevacancy wrote:i back this. partially. i adore the simpsons, but season 1 was garbage. seasons 2-3 were both funnier, but season 4 is really when the show started getting magnificent. i still like the new episodes, but i'd say seasons 9-10 is definitely when it loss the magic.Hatta wrote:Seasons 1-9 are the only ones worth watching anyway.

I would of agreed 5 years ago, but I think recently it has gotten better. I'd say something like seasons 14-18 were low points, but I think it has come back to what it was before that.Betamax001 wrote:I think the Simpsons should have been canceled of 5 years ago if not now. Oh really? I haven't been watching the new episodes because the newest episodes that I have seen were ok on first viewing, but Fox tends to air them ad nauseum. Luckily my new cable thing tells me what episode is on and when it was made so I can decided if its a good one worth watching.the King wrote:I would of agreed 5 years ago, but I think recently it has gotten better. Epis post 1997 are, for the most part, barely worth watching.
I say this as someone who's been following the show since 1992.
Man, I'm old.

Yep, the simpsons really needed to remain a product of the 90s. It has now been on for 4 separate decades.

But Futurama, on the other hand!
