I saw this last night and was really surprised at how well a video game movie CAN BE MADE! I'm not saying this is Citizen Kane with all respect.
I'm not gonna bother voicing my opinion... I wanna hear your's... so what did you think?

I watched it last night and I thought it was amazing. They managed to keep the feel and atmosphere of the game, yet still push the limits on what can be shown to the viewer. This is what an R-Rated movie should be like, especially taken from a videogame. After hearing the same director of Brotherhood of the Wolf was to be directing this movie, I was thrilled. This movie is a must see for anyone 16 and over. I wouldnt even think about taking a 10-14 year old to see this film based on the ending alone.

I think the lead role was given to a women for the same reason they had a women in Alien. It is kinda one of those strong heroiness things. I didn't mind it... very nice... also there is a bit of story that wouldn't work as a man.
Oh and Saraph... can you believe that at the theatre I went to half the theatre was filled with 8 and 9 year olds and their parents! It was horrible... they were loud, crying, annoying... what parent would dare think to bring their kid to this movie!? Goes to show you why 6 year olds are playing GTA! Parents really don't bother to look into what they are about to show their children. I thought the commercial would of explained that.
But jeez... through the entire film I was hearing parents mumble to themselves how they couldnt believe they brought their kid to this.
Oh and what I liked the most was A: the first horrific scene in it for it's great similarities visually to the game. and B: the soundtrack... did anyone else notice the soundtrack? I thought that was a great nod to how well the games were made.

Yes, as i said, the direction was brilliant. Oh, and the reason why Harry was changed to Rose is because not only did the director of the movie want it that way, but the director of the games thought the part was more of a strong maternal instinct *See April's EGM*. The soundtrack was easily recognizable, thus it was perfect for this movie. I hear you, on the 6-10 year olds. I went with my father (I'm 23) and he couldnt believe that under age kids got in to see this movie. The only thing they checked when I bought my ticket was my stub, that's it. Theaters in my are are only really interested in seeing if you paid for admission. Screw age, we want their money kind of deal.
