I picked up that Marvel vs Capcom cab. Got it 100% working! woo!
so my question is this-
what else can the jamma harness that i have in there run? Sega Naomi? Naomi2? Neo geo boards? CPS3?
capcom play system 2 questions
Re: capcom play system 2 questions
I'm far from an expert, but I think the general answer is, just about anything.

Re: capcom play system 2 questions
You should also look into some other CPSII games, like Mars Matrix, Dimahoo, GigaWing, and Progear, if you're into shmups. There's also Armored Warriors and Cyberbots, which are basically the same game, except one is a one on one fighter, and one is a really awesome beat-em-up.
The CPSII has some great games, you can do a wikipedia search for a list of all the games on it. I think it's pretty simple to swap out the games too. Congrats on finally getting that cab working, that's one hell of a great find.

Really easy.Lokkenjawnz wrote:The CPSII has some great games, you can do a wikipedia search for a list of all the games on it. I think it's pretty simple to swap out the games too. Just wanted to k now what my options were once i have all the CPS2 boards i want. If it is easy to expand.
Re: capcom play system 2 questions
You'll need a completely different setup to play naomi/naomi 2, which is very expensive(at least $300 prior to getting a game).
For that cab, since I'm assuming it's a Capcom Dynamo, I'd say stick with Cps/Cps2. Cps3 has Wazard and Street Fighter 3 but it's expensive and a HUGE pain.
You can run almost any jamma game in the machine, games like mortal kombat/killer instinct require a kick harness similar to mvc.

I think I know what a kick harness is. I believe that it changes the jamma pin connections so that all the buttons are properly wired. Now... does the kick harness go between the board and the actual jamma harness? Is it like an adapter? I've never seen one in the flesh.
So- would i need one for neo geo, or are the buttons wired in a way that i can just plug and play?
What would go into a naomi setup?
Re: capcom play system 2 questions
I know, ancient thread bump, don't really care what you have to say about that!
It really is easy, You just need a Capcom I/O and a Naomi motherboard. Plug the Naomi into the I/O, plug it into your JAMMA harness and plug the kick harness into the I/O also. Easy as pie.nickfil wrote: What would go into a naomi setup?

Re: capcom play system 2 questions
Your JAMMA harness will play anything w/a JAMMA connector.
Most games that you will want (MVS / Atomiswave / Naomi / STV, etc) all have the JAMMA connector on the motherboard, not the game.
An MVS game will play on that system, yes, but first you need an Neo Mother Board (about $60-150) depending on condition, bios installed (and version), number of slots, etc.
I'd stick w/CPS2 games for the beginning. You already have the CPS2 motherboard (the A board inside your cab, this is most likely a black case attached to your blue game case). Their is a great selection for CPS2. You'll also want to research about keeping your CPS2 games alive, learn how to change the battery, etc.
Here is a decent price guide to follow. You only want Blue or Green boards most likely (US/JP) otherwise you'll be looking into getting A boards from other regions.

Use this a baseline guide for pricing. As always, take into account condition, possible conversions/bootlegs, condition of battery or if it's been phoenixed, etc.
A kick harness is fairly cheap, yes, all you are doing is making your 4-6 buttons respond. Most arcade games use only 3, maybe 4 buttons - so most cabs are not going to wired for the others (if your controller panel even has them). It is a relatively easy install.

Re: capcom play system 2 questions
What about power for the CD-ROM? And it's board footprint, might not fit to well. Naomi is cool and all, but think about the returns...what games do you want on it? That capcom I/O goes for 200 bucks and the Sega one is only 50-100 less. At least Atomis, it will hook up easy as pie(unless your JAMMA connector does not have #4 & #5 buttons wired), but what GAMES do you want?bryan_65 wrote:It really is easy, You just need a Capcom I/O and a Naomi motherboard. Get a single slot Neo Geo. Cheap, good games, easy.
You should have enough standard games to play...e-bay "JAMMA".

I got Dead or Alive 2 the motherboard and the capcom I O for $260 shipped so I jumped on it. The I/O powers the motherboard. It fits in the cab OK. I am having problems getting the fourth button to work for my throws. I have a kick harness and it will register the fourth button fine in the test menu.
Latter tonight will come a tech support thread probably, got to go to Lamaze!
