Is that so? Well, while I still like both versions, I think I prefer the slimmer version.

I can understand their opinions though. Does the same thing go for the ZX designs? I didn't hear much criticism on that.

The thing about the Zero designs is that the only thing people really dislike is the design of Zero (and X). All the current reploids can look like whatever they want; it's 100 years (or is it more?) past the X series, so of course the design upgrades, just like the designs between Mega Man and X. Similarly, ZX is further in the timeline than Zero. More importantly, they aren't supposed to be Zero or X. The characters are merely using the abilities of Zero or X, and take on some of the artistic traits. The redesign of Zero really felt like it made no sense, especially when they included in Zero's old body in Zero 3. Him having a new body can be explained, but then they spat in the face of it by having his old body be the same design as the new one.

I think when they showed Omega as having Zero's original body, they mentioned it was his body from the Elf War or something like that.
Pretty sure the way they mention it, they mean inbetween the X and Zero series.

Personally, I loved what I played of the Zero games. I only played the first two, but they were great.

The gameplay was fantastic, a true tribute to old school megaman goodness.

I also really enjoyed the character designs. Hell, I can't think of any Megaman designs I don't like. Legends, X, Zero, Original, all are great. ...Battle Network were pretty lame...

I played the 2 first ones and want to play the other 2. The gameplay is awesome (I do have some complaints). I did not have a problem with the design, but I did not play the X series so much - if there is a continuity issue I can understand how that would upset some people that played the older X games. Maybe the redesign was partly due to the smaller screen of the GBA and such.

I missed out on these games on GBA, so I'll probably end up getting this... I just wonder if there's any content that will be changed from the original games, or anything additional if you have the original games plugged in the DS! (The Gamestops in my area seem to have the GBA versions in stock all the time - I just hadn't gotten around to getting them yet! )

One question - are the Zero games really harder than the ZX games? I breezed through ZX pretty quickly and without much frustration.

The problem with Zero's redesign for me was that it didn't fit the character. Zero was always the badass of the MMX series and he really looked the part. X was a pacifist forced to fight, Zero was built for combat and generally had no problem with it. You could see this in the design. Zero looked like a samurai, X looked like a regular reploid with a gun. They even made Zero bigger than X and you'll notice Zero never had any armors. He looked tough enough without them, X didn't even look battle ready until you got him a set of armor.

With the MM Zero series I feel like they made him much more like X in his design. He just lost that badass look he had and just looked like some kind of Red X with long, blond hair. It just wasn't Zero

Figures they announce this right after I bought the last game needed to complete the series.
