First -- Saturn is chipped and works beautifully. Its been tested many times with a wide variety of games, none have a problem. Except for Golden Axe, the Duel.
I understand that the game is considered to be crappy by many, but whatever...
The disc is detected as a valid game, and it begins to boot. After a screen blank/resolution shift, the system drops back to the Saturn Menu. You can launch it again, repeat ad nauseum. This is using a -- supposedly -- US version of the game. I've read that there are some titles with dual region checks, but again, this copy, I believe, is native to America.
Anyone else have this problem?
Golden Axe Duel for Saturn
It came from the Golden Torrents collection, and I've had this same problem twice -- once when I patched a Japanese ISO, and again when I burned a supposedly US ISO. Two different discs, two different original regions, same issue.Mozgus wrote:Might just be a bad copy of the game? Did it ever work with the swap trick before?
Never tried the swap trick :/ If you think it will help, I'll read up on it and give it a try.
Cool, but word of warning; Just because it came from a Golden Torrent at UG, doesn't mean it's perfect. I've gotten some bad rips from Golden Torrents before.durkada wrote:It came from the Golden Torrents collection, and I've had this same problem twice -- once when I patched a Japanese ISO, and again when I burned a supposedly US ISO. Actually, now that you mention it, I believe they acknowledged that that one was bad.

Thanks to all. Yes, you're both right. The Golden Torrent is flawed. The "US" release is nothing more than a patached Japanese. Many thanks for the updated torrent!
I just had this problem and using a 3d "nights" controller would make it not work.
However, booting with a regular controller worked fine!!!!
