Is the PSP2000 still "in production", or they switched over to only making 3000s and Gos and to get a new 2000 I need to find old stock?

That's correct.Ivo wrote:Is the PSP2000 still "in production", or they switched over to only making 3000s and Gos and to get a new 2000 I need to find old stock?

Harsh! Maybe I should try to get one now then. Are they already "inflated" in price due to this, or is there a good place to buy them in the U.S.? (sorry for the "dumb" question but I'm in Europe - as the PSP is rather more expensive here I prefer to get it from the States).
EDIT: I realized that maybe the 3000 started selling at a lower price for some reason, and that is why the 2000 seems "inflated". The 2000 seems to ghost a good bit, so I'm not sure which screen I prefer. I wish I could see both in front of me, but I don't think this will be easy.

Re: What is the best PSP model?
I love my PSP. I have 3 of them (2 slims and 1 phat). They're all great. I do like the heft of the original model. I like the slim lightness and the TV out. I haven't tried the 3000 so I can compare the video quality with the other two.Ivo wrote:Harsh! Maybe I should try to get one now then. Do you have a used game store like the US gamestop where you can try the different ones? The problem with the 3000 is that you cannot permanently put CFW (same for some 2000 models) on the system. You can run the ChickHEN hack if the FW is 5.03 or lower (or is it 5.51?) but it's good as long as you keep the system running (e.g, put it in sleep mode instead of off).
Re: What is the best PSP model?
I do have both -2000 and -3000, gotta say the -3000 has a crisper screen, and I didn't notice much about the interlacing issues when I was playing games. Some do refer the -3000 as "brite/bright" as -2000 is "lite/light."
One site does say that PSP Go is going to have a "relaunch" (GOOD LUCK!)

Does any one have a picture or video of a side by side comparison of the 2000 & 3000 screens?
Re: What is the best PSP model?
Got a 3000 last week and its pretty crap over the scanlines psp 2000 is the one to get.
Re: What is the best PSP model?
Really? IMO, it is visible if you have sharp eyes, but not crappy at all, as the -3000 has crisper colors than the -2000.rommy667 wrote:Got a 3000 last week and its pretty crap over the scanlines psp 2000 is the one to get.

Re: What is the best PSP model?
Yeah, and I'll fully champion the 3000. It's nearly the same as the 2000, but with better colors. The GO is nice too, but I love the 3000.
Re: What is the best PSP model?
I own two PSPs now, but they are both 3000 models. -_-
At first I bought a cool green color 3000 for a very good price. Turns out it is the Asia version (region 3 UMD). Thankfully it stills plays my Japanese games but I fucking HATE how they got the accept and cancel buttons backwards in the menu. It throws me off constantly.
After that, I bought the Monhan version of the PSP 3000 from an Amazon Japan 3rd party seller. It was extremely hard to find and downright risky to ship to the USA because you aren't actually supposed to ship those batteries via airplane. Thankfully it arrived safely. I think it was worth all of the trouble because it is just incredible. It has a lot of little improvements over the standard 3000 version. I love how the battery lasts 8 hours. It just feels better to hold because of the bumps on the back, along with the matte finish. The analog stick has an indent to it, so it should be easier to use. I haven't used it much yet since I've mostly been playing games that don't use it.
I have also been using the TV out with my PSPs and it works great. If I use component cables, it can even do progressive scan. It looks really clean on my 1080 HDTV, and thanks to my TV's zoom feature, it fills up most of the screen.
I have never used a PSP 2000, so I have no idea how the screen quality compares with the 3000 model. I honestly think the 3000 model's screen looks extremely fantastic. I don't see any of those lines you guys are talking about.
Hopefully I will get around to finding a used 2000 Japanese model on Ebay sometime, and then do my own side by side comparison. And hell, I would like to get a 1000 model eventually as well. There are so many great PSP games that I am discovering now. I pretty much ignored everything PSP until recently.
*edit*
OK, I just did some research about the various PSP models. I watched a lot of Youtube comparison videos too. I don't think I'm gonna bother buying any 1000s or 2000s because I can't find any reason to do so. The 3000 is pretty much the best in every way.
I couldn't even find a single Japanese PSP 2000 in good shape available anywhere, so that's fine. I'm happy with my current PSP 3000s.
*edit again*
Even though my TV's zoom feature helped make the PSP screen larger, I hooked it up to my XRGB-3 and used the zoom feature on there. Now the PSP screen fills up the entire TV screen perfectly. Very cool.
