THIS.

Project cars are fun, but I would never want to rely on one for daily driving. I have a friend who owns a '73 Camaro. For a couple of years, it was his only vehicle. His girlfriend had to drive him around a lot.

I totally know that feeling.

It is nice and reassuring to know what went wrong though. I drove an 1988 Pathfinder for several years, and although it wasn't the most reliable suv, when something broke I knew how to fix it.

Oh, I already have a fixer upper. A 1970 VW Beetle, and while I love it to death(its been in my family for over 20 years) its totally an old rust bucket. I actually had to bring it out of retirement, slap the seats back in and let my wife drive this little Ford Contour thats my usual daily driver.

She really likes the small SUV thing and is interested in the Saturn Vue. Not sure how I feel about those, but I want her to get something she really likes. Were also talking about Corollas and the Ford Focus. Its unreal how many cheap Focus's I have come across and thats only online. Makes me think there has to be something wrong with them.

I always do my own car work, but these new cars are too much of a pain to work on. Not only did a REFURBISHED alternator cost $180 on my contour, it was a fucking pain to replace. Im pretty sure it was the hardest thing I have ever done on a car. So......thats why I want a reliable good car. I hate working on this new shit, and have no problem using every cent of the 7 grand to avoid working on a new car.

700 Yugos, that will give you plenty of spares for a year. :

But if you do have lot of free time, older car that can be restored or hotrodded is the way to go. Start out reliable car than add and modify as you get moola. End result is your car that you customized the way you like it.

I bought my car for a 100 and she has grown up with me ever since.

<-- Nitrous Motor on left.

rotars are kinda ok...until they break and you have to find that ONE guy that charges 110$ an hour to work on it due to being the only specalist around your area within 100 miles.

Rotaries are fairly simple, In fact the Engine I learned to fix.

I forgot, I rebuild cars for a living. Rotaries are not simple and not economical to someone that has not used it as a corner stone for learning, thats right only one car still uses it and now its not even turbo charged anymore. God forbid it has a oil leak before anyone finds it and it blows up. I love the rotaries, 93 rx7 is one of my fav cars, but for a daily driver I wouldnt put anyone in one.

Bold comment to make on a game forum...assuming that people here dont know how to work on a car. More so considering several members here have REALLY nice tuner cars...

I can work on new cars to an extent, but not much. So far I have done the following:

Water pump: 1992 Honda Accord AND 1987 Ford F350 Diesel
Radiator: 1992 Honda
Alternator: Honda, F350, 1998 Ford Contour
Brake Line to rear: F350

The only Reason I throw the F350 in, is because it was the first, and more than likely the only diesel I will ever own. I did like that truck though. F350 diesel(460 CI), 4 door with the long bed. The biggest truck EVER pretty much. I bought it off a farmer for $300 and drove it for 3+ years. :D

Give me and old VW Beetle and I will do most anything you want. Seriously though, the commercials dont lie. German engineering kicks ass. But it cost too fucking much......
