Technically not a spinoff. It was created as SaGa to be an RPG on the Game Boy, and was given the Final Fantasy name to sell in the west. The original Japanese title is Makai Toushi SaGa. Compare that with Final Fantasy Adventure's original title: Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden.noiseredux wrote:Final Fantasy Legend - or technically Saga. So f'd up and weird. Killing the creator and eating monsters you killed to mutate. C'mon!
What are your favorite Final Fantasy spin-off games?

And you were the target audience. It was created specifically for westerners who weren't used to console RPGs in order to get them interested in the genre.Yukima wrote:Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Who cares if it was ridiculously easy and had a (nonexistant) story? The music was awesome and it was one of my first RPGs!

I tend to think that it's a matter of taste.GamerMON wrote:Hey now. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance was not as good as the ps1 classic. It was a good portable but not the same as the original.

I'm fully aware of that, BUT as it was given the name "Final Fantasy" in the US, I'd consider it a non-canon FF game for the intent of this topic.MrPopo wrote: Technically not a spinoff. It was created as SaGa to be an RPG on the Game Boy, and was given the Final Fantasy name to sell in the west.

I think it was mathematically proven that FFTA < FFT. If I get bored I'll try and dig up the proof again.noiseredux wrote:I tend to think that it's a matter of taste.GamerMON wrote:Hey now. I love Advance.
You have to be okay with the law system. I think that's where the derision comes from.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, for the SNES. That game was excellent.

Please tell me you're kidding, newt42. I couldn't stand this game. I've heard it makes for a great introduction to RPGs, but I had just played through Final Fantasy III and Lufia II when I tried it, and it seriously left a bad taste in my mouth.newt42 wrote:Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, for the SNES. yeah I hated it. It was the first SNES RPG I got, and this was after playing FF and Dragon Warrior on NES, so.....Ack wrote:Please tell me you're kidding, newt42. I couldn't stand this game.
