$100 for shipping sounds about right for an AES through EMS shipping. If you're being charges $150-180... I'd assume there are a few games in the deal. AES games are stupidly heavy.Thierry Henry wrote:The system is NTSC-J. And the shipping was a tad over $100. Keep in mind though that I'm from South Africa and I've regularly been quoted amounts of between $150-180 in shipping costs for similarly weighted items.
If you suspect the overcharged you on weight based shipping from Japan, just check out the costs over at Japan Post. Ask the seller how much it weights. Double check the price for the weight with JP, then weight it when you receive it to make sure it's in the right price range, or at least in the range next to it. On shipping between $100-150, a $10 dollar difference isn't horrible... but you're talking a $50-80 difference there. That is robbery.
SAL is economy air. It take 2-3 weeks, has no insurance and is about 80-90% the cost of EMS. It's basically useless. You're thinking of "Surface Mail", which I personally prefer unless I'm worried about time.I hate SAL (by boat) it takes almost 3 months.
