Problems with old systems and an LCD TV

Post by Jimmy Yakapucci »

I recently replaced my computer monitor with a 15" LCD TV/Monitor combo. The problem that I am having is this: When hooking up my Saturn using either the A/V inputs or the RF input, the display is messed up. It is shifted up and to the left and has garbage on the bottom and right. This also happens with my FC Twin system using the A/V inputs. The only way that I have been able to get the Saturn to work right with the TV is to run the A/V output through my DVD recorder and then into the A/V in of the TV. This works fine. The TV model is a Magnavox 15MF400T. Anyone else experience a problem like this?

The problem is that the consoles' native resolution is lower than traditional NTSC and needs to be upscaled to work properly on your lcd panel. I fixed my problem upscaling it through a computer, but if running the signal through your dvd recorder fixes the problem, consider yourself lucky that you found a fix that doesn't require you to buy a dedicated upscaler.

I guess that means that I'll have to take the output of my A/B/C switch and run that through the DVD recorder to make sure that it will display properly. Thanks for the help.
