Best Multiplayer RPGs?
So, me and a friend of mine are almost done playing through Tales of Symphonia together, and want something new to play after it. I'm thinking about Tales of the Abyss, but it was mediocre compared to Symphonia, and I would either have to move my PS2, or get a second Dualshock 3 controller. I could also play Tales of Vesperia, but I'm waiting for the PS3 version to be released in the US. I have Secret of Mana for the SNES, as well, but as is my understanding, you can't use multiplayer until you get fairly far into the game. I'm looking for some good multiplayer RPGs, so let me know what are some good ones.
Re: Best Multiplayer RPGs?
Let me correct your misconception. You start off with a single character. You fight through two bosses and then you get a second character. This should take you no more than an hour (and probably less, it's been a while since I've done a new game). If you want, you and your friend trade off between bosses. After you get the second char you can immediately get the third.lisalover1 wrote:I have Secret of Mana for the SNES, as well, but as is my understanding, you can't use multiplayer until you get fairly far into the game.

Comon lisalover, don't fall for such an obvious troll. You should have replied with something like "NO U!"lisalover1 wrote:Are you looking for a fight? If not, then DON'T FUCKING POST HERE.SplashChick wrote:Tales of Symphonia sucks.

Herc's Adventures = Amazing awesome Co-Op fun
Phantasy Star Online = Obvious Example but it's gave me and my friends countless hours
PC opens a huge amount of options as I myself am always looking for good console Co-op RPG goodness, hopefully you get some good suggestions I can benefit from

I always thought Herc's Adventures was a Beat-Em'-Up, but I guess I was wrong.Marspants wrote:Herc's Adventures = Amazing awesome Co-Op fun

D&D Heroes for the Xbox. With support for up to four players, it's a gr8 game.
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and 2, bu they only support 2 players.
Champions of Norrath (which uses the same engine as BG:DA), and it's sequel Champions: Return to Arms. Up to 4 players can play, both locally and online.
With Final Fantasy 9, you can have it to where you can change it so certain characters are controlled by the second controller.
Hunter: The Reckoning series, though it's not technically an RPG, but more of a Gauntlet-esque game.
Which brings me to Gauntlet. There's leveling up and exploration. I recommend Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for the Xbox (or GameCube).
X-Men Legends series (1 and 2, and by proxy, the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series), which is yet another action-RPG with up to 4 players supported. X-Men Legends 1 is out for the PS2, GameCube and Xbox. Number 2 is out for those systems AND the PSP. And M:UA is out for EVERY system, from the 128-bit systems (PS2, GCN, Xbox) to current-gen consoles (360, Wii, PS3) and even the PC and the handhelds (GBA and PSP, but not DS). M:UA2 is not out on the GCN and Xbox (but is on the PS2), and the DS, but not the GBA.
There's others I think.
