I have recently come into possesion of an Atari XE Game System. I am having trouble finding reliable info for it though.
Can anybody tell me the best/must have games for this system
Atari XEGS
Re: Atari XEGS
The XEGS is pretty much compatible with Atari 8-bit computers. i.e. the Atari 400/800, 800XL, and XE series. You should definitely check out Star Raiders. It's a first person arcade space shooter with fuel to manage and a strategic map. Pretty good for 1979.
I really like the 8-bit port of Missile Command, but I think that's built into the XEGS. Defender and Centipede are good too. There's a good Lode Runner port. I have a nifty little game called Oil's Well that's kind of different.
Really, anything for the Atari 8-bit computers will run. Most of the ports of Atari arcade games have good versions on the 8 bit. You should also look into getting an SIO2SD. 8-bit Atari's had an SIO port for peripherals like disks. An SIO2SD loads disk images off of an SD card and emulates the disk. There are also PC based solutions like SIO2PC. Google around, it's pretty easy to get disk images up and running.
