Re: Wii: A failure
Now all we need are statements to get this thread locked then the plan will be a complete success.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.
Re: Wii: A failure
I find it funny that this statement (with grammatical errors, spelling errors, and probably five other errors that an English major could pick up) came from the same person that said:ZeroAX wrote:so in your opinion we don't need beautiful because we already have pretty and that is much easier to spell and write?
I know it might be easier to spell color instead of colour. Or Favorite instead of Favourite, but that's just it. You must train your brain.
If the English language were the simplest language in the world (phone would be fon, no silent vowels, no combination consonants, etc.) we'd still have poetry, calligraphy, and other art that uses beautiful language, it'd just be easier to spell.Oh and poetry is a waste of time, because words are just a way of communicating.
Now that's an idea I can get behind.come to think of it lets stop using the word smile and instead use these

Wow it's as if this thread morphed into Rosie O'Don.....that Blob from Akira and began consuming member's subconscious thoughts and feelings that aren't usually expressed.

dude I'm not from an English speaking country. Don't expect miracles from me. Also I don't think I had any spelling mistakes cause I have a spell checker installed.... oh wait... British spell checker sorry
Also the thing is if words are hard to spell, you feel like an idiot if you suck at it which motivates you to read/write more (which is considered an exercise in spelling) and you get smarter.
besides simplification of the language points to illiteracy and lack of schooling.
Which happened with ancient and modern Greek.
Ancient Greek is much more detailed, a much richer language. But over a course of a 1000 years, containing the middle ages and ottoman rule (surprisingly the middle ages did way worse stuff to ancient Greek culture than the muslims ever did), the language has been dumbed down, and it pales to it's ancient counterpart.
The only way the language has been enriched is with Italian and Turkish words. OFC I'm not saying we should switch to ancient Greek, like you guys shouldn't switch to Shakespeare ish English.
But if so many people centuries before you could learn this language with all it's ups and downs, what makes you less qualified to spell it the correct (and hard way). We've managed what they could only imagined. Flight, space flight, atomic energy, the internet. And we can't manage correct spelling?
(jk) unless of course it's true that TV, the internet and of course, video games rot your mind. I could give up TV but I prefer a rotted brain over giving up the internet and video games

Re: Wii: A failure
Simply from a personal perspective, the Wii hasn't been a failure, but it has been a disappointment. The vast majority of the first party franchise games have been well up to scratch for me. Third parties have a hard time bringing out games in good numbers that really stand out for me but they've been brought out consistently enough to keep me just about interested in the system. Love the VC but I do own a fair few of the games already and they seem to be drip-fed to us very sparingly now. Online play is a joke for the most part and I'm not really bothered about the gap in graphical capabilities with the other two systems. Financially though, the thing is of course a roaring success.

and they are unreasonable expensive. PSN has psone games for the price of an NES game. I regret the number of games I've purchased on the VC. Even though I got most of them at half price when I found Wii Point Cards at half price, but still. Anything more than a € or 2 if too expensive for an NES game.

Yeah, there's that too. Admittedly, some of the rarer stuff on there could set you back far more for an original copy, but still... it adds up more than it should if you buy games off there regularly.ZeroAX wrote:Myollnir wrote: Love the VC but I do own a fair few of the games already and they seem to be drip-fed to us very sparingly now.

While I agree with this, it's not just nintendo who are guilty of this. Banjo Kazooie on XBLA sets me back about £10 here, where as an equivalent N64 game from VC is £7.
Re: Wii: A failure
That's my point. You're learning English, so why in the hell would you want it to be more complicated? So you can act more pretentiously when you speak it?ZeroAX wrote: dude I'm not from an English speaking country. Don't expect miracles from me.
