I have looked around at a few guides on region modding the Sega Saturn (I have a model 2 NTSC-J console).
I only want the option to switch between NTSC-J and PAL, I was wondering if someone could draw me a diagram of which jumper points I need to solder onto to. (I only want to use a single single pole double throw switch).
Also I am not interested in using a 3in1, 4in1 or similar items.
I am just slightly confused.
Cheers in advanced.

That is the picture that confused me.

So do I solder a bridge from 6 to 7 then to the center pole of a switch then solder the back (on the left) of gnd and 5v to the left and right poles?

Keep in mind I just use a 4 in 1 to play imports myself, but this is how I understand it. On that page, look at the bigger animated picture to the right of the one you linked. If you only want to switch between US and Europe, then you'd need a triple pole, double throw switch since 3 of the settings change between Japan and European settings. Look at the double pole, double throw here for an idea, you'd just have a switch with a 3rd internal switch. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switch#Con ... rangementsemwearz wrote:That is the picture that confused me.

You'd remove the jumpers from 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and 13. The center contact for each throw would go to the common side of each pair you needed to affect. Then you'd connect one side of the switch to the JP6/JP7, JP10/JP11, JP12/JP13 as appropriate per the +5/Ground pairs as the chart says for Japan, then the other side for Europe. You'd be skipping the 8/9 pair since those don't change for the regions you're interested in.
I haven't opened up my Saturn to look, but I imagine the common point for each pair of jumpers is already connected on the board.

I want NTSC-J and PAL, It is the common points is what is throwing me off a great deal. I have done mods to most of my consoles in the past, this just is not clicking.
Thanks for the help though.

Did that not help? I could draw a picture as I understand it if it will help.

Re: Sega Saturn region mod question (PAL - NTSC-J)
That would help heaps, I have my Saturn open on my kitchen table, for some reason its just flying over my head, the main part i dont understand is the 'common point' do i have to make a bridge between 2 points? If you could draw a diagram I would appreciate it heaps, I have close to 0 cash atm so I wouldn't be able to afford a AR for ages so this is my only real answer to borrowing some PAL Saturn games off a mate.

But you'll probably still have to go buy a switch and put a hole in your system to have at it.

Re: Sega Saturn region mod question (PAL - NTSC-J)
I have a ton of switches, my original intent when I bought it was to do the region mod, but once I found out about AR 4in1 and items like them I thought it sounded easier, however now I think I might have a crack at the region switch if I can get my head around it. I will dill into the battery cover, nice, neat. Most of my console have switches on them.
