I'm basically in the same boat as Ack. I've been gaming nonstop since I got my NES in 89 or 90 (can't remember which). Was heavy with the NES, SNES, and N64. ARound that time we got a 200 MHz Pentium and I got into PC gaming as well. Then I was living in dorms from late '00 to mid '05, so I didn't play consoles nearly as much. But that was the golden era of the online FPS. CS and UT sucked so much of my time away.Ack wrote:Honestly, my "nostalgia era" really runs from the NES to the Dreamcast...1985-2000 I'd say. Why so large? I played games the entire time, be it Gremlins or Duck Tales on the NES, Final Fantasy VI on the SNES, Resident Evil on the PS1, Mario Kart 64 on the N64, or even kicking back with day-long Soul Calibur tournaments on the DC. And then there's the long current of PC gaming, really starting for me in 1992, when I waited 36 hours for the shareware version of DOOM to download on our dial-up.
Gaming has been good to me.

Being born in 91, I'd definitely have to say that my nostalgia period is from 94 all the way up to the Xbox 360's release. I'll never forget beating Earthworm Jim for the 1st time it was the 1st game i'd ever beat. I have such fond memories of going to my best friends house and playing through all of the Megaman X games with him on his Playstation. great times

My Nostalgia era is probably the SNES, N64, and PS1. Although I did play NES, I was only like 2 years old and we got a SNES around that time. But now that I think about it, I get a somewhat nostalgic feel when I think about the early Xbox days of when Halo was actually the best game ever.

Re: Found my "era" of nostalgia.
I really have two:
First: 89-94 - This was the height of the NES/SNES and Arcade scene for me. So many nights playing Zelda and Final Fantasy. So many days playing fighters and beatemups at the local arcade. Ofcourse, I did my part saving Britain from the Nazis (Battle of Britain), flying my F-16 with my Thrustmaster (Falcon 3.0), and guiding the Lode Runner (duh). Then in 1993 my father gave my brothers and I possibly the greatest gift ever, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. After that it was game over. I can play any of those SCUMM games and instantly be transported back to playing them with my brothers or cousins.
Second: 98-2005 - This was the Goldeneye/Half-life section of my life. I played alot of both, and the mods for the second. Actually every computer I have owned in the past ten years has had Half-Life on it at least once. I think I have four computers with it installed and configured right now (and no they are not all on). It also falls into the time I was in college and the countless hours I lost playing said games and others with friends. This is also when my Gameboy gametime REALLY took off - gogo college.
Most games from either time can really hit me. I catch myself every once and a while walking around in the bellows of a hotel or office building and I start thinking about how if this was a Half-Life or UT map where would be the best place to trap the people I was chasing.
