I think Comcast just throttled my bandwidth.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I actually work for Comcast, and your problem could have something to do with the signal quality in the cable that's been run to your home. I change cable drops from the pole to the house all day, every day, and most speed problems are due to squirrels chewing the line or water somehow getting into the cable somewhere. Call them up and see if they can send a technician out before you switch ISPs.

Also, the cable system I work in is switching to DOCSIS 3.0 soon, which will effectively double whatever speed you are currently at, with no extra charges. From what I've heard, Comcast is going to make that standard everywhere in the country within the next year.

I had terrible experiences with Comcast... therefore I look elsewhere.

Yeah, I going to start looking to see if there is any alternative at all. I would like to use the internet as much as I want for whatever I want. I feel that that is what I am paying for and it is not the ISPs business what I am doing.

So my internet is back to d:31.52 u:8.35 which is pretty decent imo. If my interent was being throttled do they only do it for a while or was something else causing massive drops in speed?

I'm pretty sure you share bandwidth with other people in your area. At peak times the rates can drop significantly. This is common with cable internet because it isn't a dedicated line like dsl.

I guess that could be it. I thought it was kind of late for peak time but then again it gets dark at 4:30 here so I always think it is later than it is. lol
