Does the FC Mobile II, FC-16 go, Genmobile play repo carts?
Does the FC Mobile II, FC-16 go, Genmobile play repo carts?
I just bought the FC Mobile II, FC-16 Go and Genmobile and love them. All my games work with exception of Yoshi's Island. My question is if these systems will play reproduction carts. Anyone have any luck playing repo carts on these? I would love to play some of the Japanese only games in english on these things. Sorry if this question has been asked before, I just couldn't find an answer using the search bar.

I would have to assume that if the original game works on the system, the reproduction version of it will work as well. There is no difference between them, save for the translation.
So let's say you wanted to play Final Fantasy 5. If your system can play the original Super Famicom cart, then it can play the translated cart too.
Pirate carts are a different story, but repro carts are just original SNES/NES/Genesis/etc carts with a modified mask ROM. No difference except for that.

I have the FC Mobile II and the GenMobile. I don't have any NES repro carts to test on the FC Mobile II just yet, but I do know that the GenMobile plays Beggar Prince just fine. While it's not technically a repro cart, maybe that can help you find out what you want to know about the compatibility.
BTW, congrats on your purchases! I love both the FC Mobile II and the GenMobile, so hopefully you have fun with them as well! I've recently tried playing through both Ducktales for the NES and Streets of Rage for the Genesis, and its really cool to be able to do it that on portable consoles.

You might want to try cleaning your cart. As far as I know the FC 16 go has no real compatibility issues, so if you have any problems with it always try cleaning the hell out of the carts.corn619 wrote:All my games work with exception of Yoshi's Island.

Yeah, I cleaned it already and still no luck. I think Yoshi's Island is the only cart to sport the FX2 chip in it. Games like Star Fox I think have the FX1 chip and it works fine. Oh well, I guess I still have a use for my original SNES. I have to say that these clone systems overall are awesome and easy to hook up to a TV and play. Wireless controllers and Zapper work well and help keep wire clutter down. My next project is to replace all the batteries in my carts which should be fun. Another question I had was where to get quality repo carts. I know that some people use cheap components giving the cart a very limited lifespan. I had a couple places I'd seen on the net but was curious if anyone used someone they were happy with. Anyways, thanks for the help guys.Lokkenjawnz wrote:You might want to try cleaning your cart. Ziggy makes excellent SNES repro carts, and he posts here regularly. I got a Starfox 2 cart from him that I absolutely LOVE!

^Thanks!
As mentioned above, I've actually been making SNES repros since last June. If you're interested, I could possibly make some for you. PM me if you're interested.
Cheap components? I don't know about that. The only real "components" used to make repro carts are EPROMs and flash chips, and you can't really get cheaper ones that wont last as long as others.corn619 wrote:Another question I had was where to get quality repo carts.
