I think Comcast just throttled my bandwidth.

I think Comcast just throttled my bandwidth.

Anything I can do about this? Besides getting a new isp?

Did you hit 250 GB?

Is there a way to "know" your bandwidth is being throttled aside from noticing the speed difference and stuff? I suspect my own ISP (Time Warner) of doing so, but I don't have any concrete evidence as of yet, so I'm curious.

No, I have no evidence. I am just assuming so since it is known that comcast does that and my upload/download speeds are now a third of what they were. It is possible that I have gone over 250 but I am not sure.

Yeah, I am just assuming by checking speeds on speedtest.net and all. If you call your ISP out on it, will they tell you straight out, do you think?

Or at least some way for you to access your total (or at least monthly) bandwidth consumption?

These are just general questions directed at anyone who might know, but I think they would be of use to the original poster and myself.

Do you have a router which keeps track of bandwidth? Or was Comcast the one that had a place to check?

Im pretty sure it is just done comcast side. I know there is a program that suposed to make torrent traffic look like regular traffic but from what I read it does not really fool isps, just like college dorm networks and shit. I wish we got Fios here. I hate Comcast with a passion.

Stop using torrents and get a subscription to a usenet newsgroup. You won't have any more problems. You can get all the same stuff and not worry about seeding anything either.

Just wondering if there's a good site for Usenet newbies? I guess I should go google that since it doesn't especially have to do with this thread.
