I think I like Crysis better. What do you think?
Fun? I'll have to take your word for it on Crysis, but in my experience Avatar is not fun at all.

From about 2004 to 2008 I used a 2.2 Ghz CPU, 1 GB ram PC with a 128 MB graphics card and it was fine.
:?

What games were you playing? Bejeweled?
I played a lot of Halo, Far Cry, and KOTOR. For older games I played Duke 3D, Shadow Warrior, and Half Life.

Far Cry is the most modern game in that list, and even that is about 5 years old... So yeah, that's not anywhere near good enough to play games released in the last 3 years. I'd be surprised if you could play them on minimum settings. Who wants to play PC games in that quality? You might as well buy a 360 or something.

I see that as Avatar loses, as it's not convincing you to get a real computer.
*looks at computer* "it looks real"

*picks up computer* "feels real"

*smells computer* "smells real"

*licks computer* "tastes real"

*plays left 4 dead, the orange box, Street Fighter IV, and BioShock*

I'm pretty sure I have a real computer.

Hmm, have you tried listening to your computer? That might help you in discovering if it's fake.

Hmm, maybe you should consider switching to using fans for your cooling?

Nah, bloods more efficient and it keeps me off limits during the coming robot singularity.

When I first got that computer everyone else was playing XBOX and PS2, so it wasn't bad at the time. If I had upgraded my graphics card I would have been able to play said games at max settings, plus some slightly better games like Doom 3, Half Life 2, Battlefield 2, etc. I mostly gamed on my Gamecube in those days, though.

Toward 2006-2007 ish it was pretty obviously outdated and on top of that a power interruption damaged it and killed it in 2009. That's part of why I have a Crysis playing PC now. It's kind of the best gaming thing I have around since I never got a PS3 or 360. Honestly, though, gaming and faster 3D render times are the only real advantage this new machine offers. I used the old one for a lot of Internet and word processing stuff and it was great. I even rendered a 3D short film on it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgJRyr5_1Vk)

Modern PC's are overkill unless you're a gamer or a 3D artist or something.
