Mr.White555 wrote:Considering that this is a retro site and large portions of people's collections are devoted to "failed" consoles this seems really irrelevant. I mean if the Wii had sold like shit then everyone would be praising its quirks. It would be regarded like the dreamcast except with more triviality of the motion controls
The Dreamcast had better ranked games with a shorter lifespan.

Yeah, my policy when it comes to game reviews is "completely ignore".

Take with a grain of salt, sure... but I ain't got enough money to just flat out ignore them.

I only ignore reviews when it comes to developers I'm a huge fan of, and even then, it probably isn't a good idea to completely ignore them. (Haze, for instance.)

I am not sure if it is my lack of vocabulary, or weak skills of making a point, or if no one is reading the posts in this discussion. I will try to say it one more time,

I wasn't here to troll, why would I?

Its just when the Wii got out, and after every one saw Wii Sports, imagination was limit less. I said it before every one else. to hell with HD graphics, I want to use motion control. After a year with the Wii being sold out, I got one, and waited even more. But there were no more games on the way of Wii Sport, Red Steel, No More Heroes. They are like 10 games or so, most games are simplistic with not much effort.

Nintendo on the N64 gave us the likes of GoldenEye, Zelda 64, Mario 64, you know the SNES ones and the NES, on Gamecube we had 3D metroid and wind waker. You get the idea.

On the Wii? Yes we got an amazing Mario Galaxy, but where is the rest?

When I said if any one is going to be upset if I announced the Wii as a failure,
I meant that the games those of us who hoped for, are not coming , it is what it is.
If you are one of those who will buy a Wii for Mario Bros. remake or Wii Music, sure, enjoy it.

As for the rest of us, we shouldn't wait any more. Our hopes are in the ps3/360 motion control. We waited long enough for Nintendo to put out the good games, we only got a few.

I don't care for the abundance of shovelware, I am upset about the lack of good games.
You can get fun out of the Wii, but I think it can be done better on the 360 or ps3.

I will say it one more time then drop it. You don't think the Wii released great games. Others here have mentioned quite a few and you don't like them, so have fun with the 360/ps3. I could careless if you don't like certain games, but because you think it lacks great games doesn't mean its a failure, just a failure to you. If this is not a Troll thread then change the title of this thread to "Wii:Failure?" then the topic is more friendly. If not I will start a thread called "PS3: Failure" or "XBOX 360: Failure" whether I think it or not.

I am not sure why everyone is taking this so personally like its an insult, and am not a fanboy
yes
360 failed to give a reliable hardware
and ps3 failed to be #1 console and all that it promised about super duper cell power graphics
just like how the Wii failed to deliver on the games.

You want to change the topic title, sure I don't mind.

Some people think that if a product sells well, it has to be good. This is the perfect example of why they are wrong. Nintendo's Wii is a graphically weak, poorly controlled game console with crappy netplay but they were able to market it extremely well and it ended up being a massive fucking financial success. They targeted non-gamers and old people who can't play advanced games due to their complexity. Thanks to the userbase not knowing much about video games, they think the Wii is good.

If it weren't for millions of "casual" gamers, the Wii would have been a massive financial failure. Remember how badly the Saturn and Dreamcast sold amongst gamers, despite being excellent for their time, and having tons of great games? If those cutting edge consoles failed, just imagine how horribly the Wii would have done. Sure, the Wii has a few great games but it doesn't change the fact that Nintendo is selling last generation Gamecube games.

Shit, if Nintendo started pumping out excellent NES or SNES games again I'd buy them for full retail.
