Man, I was cleaning up my room, did find some games that were almost forgotten, AND I found a bunch of un-label 1.44mb floppy disc.
Anyone here still uses them?

I would still use them, if it weren't for the fact that most files I need to move are too big to fit on >10 floppies. If it weren't for that, I would still use them. I love the sound they make when the PC is reading or writing to them.
And since I have an opprotunity to post this:

Nowadays I only use them for bootdisks when I want to run old stuff on DOS. And even that I haven't done for a while.
It is very funny though sometimes I still see adverts selling 2nd hand (but I believe, new / unused) boxes of floppies for prices as if they were still mainstream. Some people really have no clue for proper pricing.
Ivo.

Too bad they're not 700kb. HD disks are still pretty plentiful, but can't be read by most classic computers. DSDD disks are used on most classic computers, and are harder to come by.

If you just cover the non write protect hole with some opaque tape and format the disk it should behave as a DD one just fine.Hatta wrote:Too bad they're not 700kb. I was tempted to buy a flat of floppy discs a couple years ago, when I was attending lanparties all the time. I was going to split up an iso in 1 meg rars and put it on however many floppies it was going to take. I really just wanted to see the look on the guys face when I handed him 1000 floppies.

But that would be a big waste of your time putting it together. A thousand floppies? I would be bored out of my skull after doing the 10th floppy swap.fastbilly1 wrote:I really just wanted to see the look on the guys face when I handed him 1000 floppies.

At the time, I was in a job where I had a spare computer and several hours of downtime without the internet. I read alot of books then.
