I heard on the "QI" gameshow with Stephen Fry recently that it seems to be a fact that any internet forum topic that gets out of hand and goes on for long enough always ends up with a reference to Hitler - "Hitler was like that so it must be bad", "Even Hitler wouldn't have said that" or "Nazi Mod", or whatever.

I'm surprised you and Niode haven't heard of it. I would suggest a geographical bias, but that shouldn't make as much of a difference in the internet age.

I would be interested in knowing what types of websites/communities that women/girls like to frequent. I have to think that video gaming ranks near the bottom of that list. I think they would be more interested in facebook/myspace sort of thing, a women's issues site, hobby sites (knitting, reading, cooking, etc).

I browse some video gaming sites (racketboy, assemblergames, atariage, psx-scene, gbatemp, thepurplecube). I also browse nsider.com and noticed that there are a larger number of girls/women who participate there because they have some forums dedicated to role playing. Not my cup of tea.

I suppose I'm not exactly typical as far as my tastes go, but sites like those bore the living shit out of me.
