No I dont, but for those who do they will have a good laugh.
Ive played it on and off since middle school, but recently my gaming group has been playing History of the World and Agricola - Ive yet to really dig into that Warhammer you sold me.
Hey all, just dropping by this thread to put in my 2 cents.
If you trust statistics girls are almost equal when it comes to guys when asked if they play video games. There are certainly girls who will fall under the more casual end of the spectrum (with puzzle/flash/etc games) but so will a ton of the men. A lot of guys consider gaming as playing and buying all those damn new sports titles. That's pretty casual too, I'd say, if that's all that's being played.
In regards to girls who are "hardcore retro gamers" the number would have to be less but it's not as if it's impossible. Not in the slightest! I know a fair amount of girls who invest a lot of time and money into this hobby and much more so than many of my male friends. They also tend to be better than me at FPS and RPG titles than I am.
As for girls on forums, a lot of my friends tend to frequent anime/RP/whatever forums the most. but this doesn't make it some sort of rule. Girls can and will do whatever they want. Some may shy away from forums and all but either because it's not their cup of tea or because they don't LIKE being ogled at just because they happen to have two X chromosomes.
Basically, of course there are girls here (and probably more than you expect). It just may be a little tougher since a lot of times these sites seem like a digital version of a "boys only" clubhouse.
In addition to all thats been said, although the split of genders in gaming is roughly 50/50 nowadays, it was muched more skewed back when a lot of these 8 bit and 16 bit consoles were out, so there are frankly a lot of girl gamers out there who just don;t have the nostalgia a lot of us guys have for these games.

Exactly. Check the number of women in the Twin Galaxies board, the number here and the number in a more modern "game era" forum. The difference is obvious.

But then are you guys saying that it is impossible for a current gen gamer to "rediscover" the classics as it were? For someone to have a love for gaming and then decide to trace the routes that brought games to where they stand and find that they much prefer the retro titles over current? Or love them equally?
You certainly don't need to be an older gamer to have experience with and love those titles nor do you need to conform to societal norms. Yes, the male/female on this forum is pretty incongruous but the logic behind why is not flawless.

Of course not, but the fact remains that frankly the amount of people who do delve back in time into retro gaming is comparatively small, and for intents and purposes, the likelihood is that the majority of this retro board is made up of people who had or greatly desired these consoles back in the day, and the gamers of yesteryear were predominantly male.

Way to be sexist there chief.
Men are supposed to be sexist, and he asked a legitimate question imo.
I've seen women fair well in competitions but I can't recall ever seeing a woman win a competition when playing a lone. I have seen them win when playing with a team though.
I regularly play L4D with women and they are all top tier players for the most part. There are even a couple that I'd be afraid to take on one on one and hate playing against when they end up on the other team.
