good japanese mega drive games

Post by final fight cd »

i was browsing through the sega page on wiki reading up on the sega genesis 4 aka sega firecore b/c i am thinking of getting it, since it is licensed by sega. while doing a quick glance at the rest of the page i also read that the genesis 3 is capable of playing japanese mega drive carts, which was something i totally did not know.

so are there any good japanese mega drive carts, besides rpgs, that did not make it to the states? i did a quick google search but found nothing.

also, is vampire killer equivalent to the US released bloodlines?
if you took a shit, please put it back

Yep.

Welcome to the Castlevania Dungeon... has a lot of info on Castlevania games. It's where I always go for region differences and whatnot.

http://castlevaniadungeon.net/Games/cvbforeign.html

From the home page, click on "Video Games" (on the left hand side) which will give you a list of every Castlevania game. When you click on a game, click on "Foreign" to see the differences between regions.

edit: Wow, kinda surprising to hear the American version retains all the gore and whatnot. The European version was heavily censored.

I too am interested in this. The only thing I know on the topic is that some games like Streets of Rage was called 'Bare Knuckle' in Japan and having a region switch on your genny switches between them on the same cart you already have.

I've been looking for this game for a reasonable price complete. That and Granada. BADLY.

presidentleever got a lot of the ones i knew :)

sega-16 is a pretty good resource for finding out about good imports and is what lead to most of my purchases. if you decide to get super fantasy zone (which is GREAT game), be aware that the cart size is a little bigger than standard japanese mega drive carts and won't fit into a genesis 3 cart slot

The fact that no one has mentioned Zero Wing yet is a travesty.
