I love the Wavebird; It's so bad.
The official Nintendo controllers are the best in my opinion, the 3rd parties tend to make them weightier or smaller as far as the ones I have tried goes.
best gamecube controller?

Here's the 2 DealExtreme controllers:

After reading some positive reviews on other sites I decided to order one. It works great. It's really light and a little plasticy feeling but the buttons and analog work great. I find it way more comfortable than the original controller especially since I've never gotten used to the 4 face buttons positions and shapes.

This adapter lets you use any PS1 or PS2 Gamepad on the Gamecube. It works, and gives you lots of options on which controller you want to use. For $4 you can't go wrong.

Re: best gamecube controller?
I'm glad SOMEBODY has actually used this and can give a review based on experience! I've been toying with the thought of getting one of these for a while. I've been between this and the Pelican Retro Pad which looks a lot more like the Hori GBP controller, but it has the Genesis style D-Pad rather than a + which I'm iffy on.Anapan wrote:Here's the 2 DealExtreme controllers:

Re: best gamecube controller?
everybody raves about the Wavebird. Other than the fact it's wireless, what makes it superior to the standard GC controller? (They look the same to me, although the WB does look a little bulkier).
Re: best gamecube controller?
the wavebird is slightly bulkier but thats what made it more comfortable for me to hold the only thing i miss is the rumble feature. I'm picking up a Wii soon (basically for its GC compatibility and a few select Wii games) so might have to get either that classic controller on deal extreme or find another wave bird, i do have a black GC controller rotting in the trunk of my car too

I plan on nabbing a WB when I see one cheap enough that isn't beat up. I really don't care about rumble.
Re: best gamecube controller?
I've never liked the wavebird. Eats batters, feels uncomfortable to me, and can have a slight delay in response time.
Also, the official wired controllers are not all the same. The inside components, most notably with the L and R buttons, are constructed differently. And from my experience, the L and R buttons on Silver controllers are of a lesser quality. So I would avoid Silver if I could and stick with a Black Controller.
I can't remember if the Purple and Orange controllers ever had L and R problems.
