Star Wars Question

Post by Luke »

I've got the day off, and since Spike TV is hosting a Star Wars marathon, I've watched a good part of Attack of the Clones. A movie that I haven't seen in quite a while.

Anyway, Kenobi has an R4 unit on/in his ship. For a second I thought that maybe it was the same unit that had a "bad motivator" in A New Hope, which ultimately led to R2-D2 and See Threepio back together.

I remembered that "Red" looked different from an R2 unit. It was more bulky and had straighter lines. So, I popped in A New Hope in the dvd player, and saw that I was right. It wasn't R4. But then Luke called it a R2.

I'm all confused. A red R2 unit is called a R4, but a completely different looking model is still a R2?

Sorry to start a new thread for this, but it is making my brain hurt.

I think the better question is, why the &*%# are you watching "Attack of the Clones"?

But don't expect good continuity between the Star Wars films. Lots of rules changed since the first movie. For example, "Return of the Jedi" was originally going to be titled "Revenge of the Jedi" until someone pointed out to Lucas that revenge would be out of character for a jedi.

Yeah Limewater is right. The movies aren't consistent with one another and They changed somethings from the original trilogy.

R2 units come in all kinds of different colors. In episode 1, when R2 is introduced, he is amongst a few other R2 units of different colors.

Obi Wan's R2 unit was just another model. The R4 in A New Hope was a different model altogether then an R2 unit. They all have different personalities though!

1)Because there is a Stars Wars marathon on, and although I have the day off, I'm doing some work at the pc, which is near a television.

2)Duh.

There is no R4 in A New Hope, as it's referred to as a R2 unit. That is why I am confused.

Please don't call it "A New Hope". "Star Wars" is a great title, "A New Hope" is even worse than "Attack of the Clones".

You are incorrect. The red astromech droid was named R4-D4 in A New Hope (and yeah thats the title). It was also only referred to as a Droid with a bad motivator, not an R2 unit.
