Sega Saturn ISO burning help.

Post by Hunterdan »

Hello there, this is my first post.

I just acquired a Sega Saturn. I am attempting to burn and play disk 1 of Panzer Dragoon Saga using the swap trick.

I obtained Panzer Dragoon Saga disk 1 bin/cue files from http://roms.zophar.net/sega-saturn.

I converted the bin/cue files to an ISO file using bin2iso. http://www.softpedia.com/downloadTag/bin2iso

I've tried burning just the bin file with no luck. Just the cue file as well with no luck.

With my last attempt I burned the iso with CloneCD at x12 speed. The disk worked at first. Showing me the games intro screen as well as the intro video. But if I press Start, it will return to the Sega Saturn disk screen saying "the cartridge is not suitable for this system." Any idea's?

I've also downloaded another copy of PDS that came as ccd, cue, and img files. I used the ccd files, with no luck.

I appreciate any help you can offer. I just ordered a mod chip, and just want to insure I am burning the disks correctly.

Thank you. :D

BIN/Cue is the best you can download for a Saturn game, no need to convert to ISO. Check out this quick guide I wrote in this thread (third post)...

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... &sk=t&sd=a

The BIN needs the cue, so you can't burn them separately.

.ccd is the Clone CD image format. You need Clone CD to burn that image, or mount the image in a virtual drive and rip it to BIN/cue (all that info is in the link above).

Oh thanks guys. Very fast reply.

I'm going to try another burn tomorrow after I pick up some more CDR's. I'll just burn the cue/bin at 4x. My only worry is that my copy of disk 1 is just bad. Do you guys happen to know where I can get a good, working image?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm new to the Sega Saturn, but I did not think it had memory card slots. Do you mean the cartridge slot on the top? If that is what you are referring to, I have nothing in there.

Thanks again guys. I'll get back to you tomorrow to let you know if I got this working or not.

Well if you read my guide in that link I posted, I explain how to test the images BEFORE you burn so you don't waste CDs.

I got it guys! woo!

It turns out the bin/cue files I had were bad. I ended up downloading a new set, and burned it with ImgBurn. Works well. :)

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the help.
