I always loved the fact that the gaming industry seems to be growing up with me. I'm 31 in like two months and here the average age of gamers according to these stats is 32. Maybe it'll be forty when I hit that age. You know movies and music have been around long before I was born, but gaming was not really around for that long before I came into the world. It's been fun seeing the industry grow from such a young age. It's an experience that gamers fifty to a hundred years from now won't be able to say they've had. Some of us here should consider ourselves very lucky

The "most sold" data is probably incorrect. Also the PC/Conole data is again, very probably wrong. On the very least Steam doesn't release how much everything sells so, yeah.

And the Xbox fails more than that for sure.

I'm actually quite amazed at how many PSPs have been sold considering i don't really know anyone who has one.

They sell a lot probably because of the fact that you can hack it to death and play all kinds of emulators and roms on it...

There are some amazing stats:

32 is average gamer? I thought the stereotype of a gamer is a 12-18 year old, given they got ton of free time against a 32 year old.

under 18 is not the highest percentage? And there are people over 50 playing videogames?

Its hard to believe 2:3 is the ratio of female to male players, thats almost half?! They say no females play videogames

only 6 million difference between ps3 and 360 in sales? Damn did Sony catch up, they didn't release God of War,FF, or GT , the biggest selling franchises on their console while Microsoft put out multiple Halos, Forza's, and Gears.

10% of ps3 fail? Thats still high, even the Wii is high. Isn't the ISO 9000 or whatever, has to be less than 1% failure rate?

Its funny how everyone was thinking Nintendo is dying and turning out to be 3rd since 1996, yet their franchise is the most selling and top 5 selling games are Nintendo ones,

138 million ps2's sold?
all I can say is DAMN!

I think those statistics are wrong

I find they constantly use incorrect or grossly inaccurate terminoligy.
The "best selling" console should be most sold, the Wii is selling much faster.
Mario being the most successful isn't very difficult with so many different games in the franchise.
And including pack-ins with the best selling games doesn't make much sense either. Even the Sims isn't on there! Are they biased towards consoles?
