There were some collectors editions that hit the $70 mark.
in europe I've seen some of them hit the 90€ mark. I'm not counting the insane tekken6 arcade stick pack cause well.... you do get an arcade stick.

Well PC games can be priced cheaper than console games while still making the same amount of profit as they don't need to go through the licensing process that console games do. So historically PC games are generally $10 cheaper than console games, and sometimes more, as they also don't have to worry about enforced print-run numbers.

What if Microsoft decided for developers to pay a licenses fee for those who will devlepe games(or software) on its OS, like consoles do?
How rich will they be

I think if they tried that you would finally see Linux and Mac gaming take off.

PC gamers are probably the most hardcore gamers around, they are not going anywhere.
First of all, it may seem strange but I assure you than there are more PC gamers than Xbox+PS3 gamers. By far. However it seems like PC gamers are very reduced in number. Why is that so?
To put it blunty, nobody owns the PC plattform while two of the console players don't even want to win money, just win the console war, whatever that is.
Microsoft and Sony try very hard to make their console the only one, they spend so much money it's not funny. Their are trying very hard marketing-wise and so it seems like the PC is dissapearing. Not at all, it's just a perception.
Yes, there are lots of games being ported from the consoles first. MS and Sony are trying very hard to have their console be the best one so they also try to get developers coding for the console instead of the PC. However I don't think the PC community is missing a lot.
In fact I think the PC is getting ports of genres traditionally limited on PC like fighters or moder Beat'em'ups. And being frank, with Valve around you are not going to play any console-ported FPS. I have found that PC gamers don't care because they have their very own FPS that are ten times better than say Gears of War or Army of two.
About the community. Well it's more alive than ever. For starters it has competitive gaming, something that the consoles severly lack. That alone is a lot of weight. Being frank most console games have a dead multiplayer after some months. That alone sucks.
Just consider the fact that everyone has a PC in the house and think about the following communities: Steam, MMORPG playes, Civilization Junkies, Simulators fans (Be it plane, railroads or submrines), every RTS community, every game by Valve, specially TF2 and L4D, economic simulations fans (OpenTTD, Railroad Tycoon, Simcity), Dungeon Crawlers fans, Western RPG fans, MAME addicts, racing fans (Trackmania alone is huge), the Stepmania guys, every FPS in existence and the indie community.
Those communities are PC-exclusive and surely outweight consoles' ones. They are perhaps more "niche" but there are a lot of niches.
There's only one thing I dislike about PCs. They are awesome if you are smart enough so as to use google. Most people don't so they spend more than one thousand euros on a crappy PC.
PD: On the prices comment. There's no excuse, around here console games costed the same as PC games, that changed only recently. And it's not about licensing because Wii games cost the same as PC games.

If anything PC gamers are tenacious. I hate what the term hardcore has become but I use it to describe only a small handful of groups, of them are the Descent fans. Descent came out in 1995 and still has an active mapping and competitive deathmatch scene!
