Chipped Xbox almost done!*pics up*

Post by lost_within »

Well as all of you know I had a modded xbox I had been trying to sell. The case was busted and I had sold it at a REALLY low price, well when the member got it we thought it was DOA, turns out it was just a mess of a problem with the dip switchs and how they were setup. Now before that had even happend, I got this xbox from a forum member myself thinking it was busted. He had no idea what was going on with it and I took the risk. I got it to find out the chip had fallen off the pins, and that the bios were never flashed or atleast no one knew which bank they were on. After all that and getting the xbox back I figured I would turn it into something on my own. Well tonight its almost finished. All thats left to do is link it up with my pc and get a dashboard on it and some old school retro fun. I will post pics shortly to see what you guys think before and after. Also to see if you guys have any other hard modded xbox you want to sell that dont work. I actually had alot of fun doing this. Pics coming in a few.

PICS!:

This is the xbox as I got it, it was so badly busted in shipping I had to just throw away the top, take it apart to clean out all the plastic inside, and the front face plate was cracked to where it would hardly stay on

This...is the now

The case I used DID come with a bottom part that was red, the ONLY reason I did NOT use it was for the fact that I like the way the black breaks it up. It reminds me of the "Code Veronica" Dreamcast that sells for like 4,000$ or some crazy amount. So this was kinda my way of having something close to it. It now has a new 160gb harddrive. I changed out the black dips for the more "colorful" lights just for the fact its easier to push the buttons than try to use your fingernail to flip a little switch. I will get more pics once I have a dashboard up and running and hopefully some cool retro stuff playing :D So what you guys think?

Always nice when you can take two broken units and make a good one.

Is there much use for the dips besides accidentally switching them and screwing everything up? I put the little control panel for my X3 on the front of my xbox because I figured there was reason to, but I've just wound up keeping it unplugged.

Now this is nice, I've wanted to do something like this for a while, I just need to get a cheap case.

One question is does the stripe along the front come off at all? I'd probably leave the original drive bezel and following black stripe along the front of the case.

The dips controlle what bank you are in, in most cases people can flash them and then just throw the switch away. I kept them just for the fact of never knowing if I may need it again. I have this board and the other board.

The drive cover you can keep or change, as far as the stripe I am not sure what your talking about, unless your refurring to the bottom "shell" part of the case that I didnt change.
