when are the next generation of consoles?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It is going to have two 8 core CELL processors and have a mobile centric HD5870 powering the graphics. It will be the same foot print as 3 CD cases stacked on top of each other and be powered by God.

It's due Holiday 2010.
If its got the new Panzer Dragoon on it I'm game. Free co-op play with God would be a major bonus. Sega will probably charge for that though :(

This topic really piques my interest from a historical perspective. The time span between consoles really gives you an idea of not just the success of a particular company, but as a sign of the times too. Here's some rough numbers I threw together in a hurry (so it's probably not perfect) showing the span of time between system launches (rather than when they were discontinued...). Nintendo, Sega and Sony are based on JP debuts; Microsoft on NA debut.

NES -> SNES: 7 years, 4 months
SNES -> N64: 5 years, 7 months
N64 -> Gamecube: 5 years, 3 months
Gamecube -> Wii: 5 years, 2 months (launch of Wii in the Americas)
Wii so far: 3 years, 2 months

SMS (Mark III) -> Mega Drive: 3 years
Mega Drive -> Saturn: 6 years, 1 month
Saturn -> Dreamcast: 4 years

Playstation -> PS2: 5 years, 3 months
PS2 -> PS3: 6 years, 8 months
PS3 so far: 3 years, 2 months

Xbox -> 360: 4 years
360 so far: 4 years, 2 months

It'll be right after Sega releases a new console for the current generation.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Think about this. At this point in the Xbox lifecycle, the Xbox 360 was out. This gen is gonna last awhile.

I always found it sad how pathetically short the original Xbox's lifespan was. The 128 bit days went by too quickly for my tastes.
