Speaking of Zoots

Post by Ivo »

I just managed to get to 500 k without getting hit on Normal :D

It's funny as I hadn't played in quite a while, just got it on my first play today without thinking. I wasn't even looking at the score, was just relaxing, and suddenly get the Zoot. I got hit right after as I really wasn't expecting the Zoot and I guess I lost my focus :)

Unfortunately I don't remember if I already had done that on Easy, so I couldn't check for sure if I was right about not needing to unlock Zoots in easier difficulties.
So I got inspired and went to verify with 100% certainty by trying to get to Level 7 without power-ups on Normal, as I didn't do it on easy thus far. It took my just 3 tries and I managed somehow, and confirmed that I was right: it fills the Zoot on Easy as well. I was wrong about it being confusing though, as you can see which Zoots you have on the difficulty you are playing if you use the Full layout mode.

On a completely unrelated issue, I saw a vid on youtube of Echoes and a guy was getting powered UP when getting hit. That used to happen on an earlier version I had (I reset all the few zoots I had with it as it completely changes the game). I reckon I ought to bring it up here: I used to think that was a bug of an earlier version, but in the version updates it isn't mentioned, is it? Also, seems pretty hard to miss as a bug; the Zoot of not moving and getting to X score was actually doable with that bug / feature. If it was a feature somehow and they changed it, leaving the Zoots as they were is unbalancing.

Well, my thoughts on the zoots is that if you complete a zoot on hard, you get the zoot for hard and if you haven't already, you get the zoot for easy and regular. That's the only way I can see it working... :?

That is the way it works, I tested by getting a Zoot on normal and checked that I got credit for the same Zoot on easy.

Interesting. Maybe I should just play Hard. Save myself the effort.

echoes + x-arcade

Post by cluffy »

Hey, just found this site. I've been playing echoes on the x-arcade tankstick. Trackball for moving, joystick for shot direction. Too much fun. I've only gotten 390k on normal but I'm old and slow, and usually intoxicated when I'm playing. Looking forward to racketboy's featured free games. CHEERS!
looking for a thread of great freeware games for x-arcade tankstick or similar
