Yeah, I am sorry I tried to make this clear
ONE GAME from each series,
because I do not want to play Devil May Cry 1234 , Castlevania NES all the way to PSX, FF 1->13 ,
So I am trying to choose 1 DMC , 1 Castlevania, 1 Final Fantasy, 1 MegaMan
So one from EACH series ,

@corn619
I actually started playing Zelda, I am not sure how this conflicts with planning ahead what games to play in the future?

@noiseredux
Why do you not recommend Mystic Quest, I have seen that box cover for years and always wanted to see what in the game. Its so nostalgic for me.

@Classicgamer5
I already played Super Metroid, SNES . I am trying to pick one out of the 3D ones, 2 on gamecube and 1 on the Wii.

Castlevania SOTN seems to be a pretty popular choice, I wonder why. You guys made it a lot more exciting for me, looks like its the next game I am getting my hands on. PSX version? Or downloadable XBOX version?

ONE out of each series guys, I am all ears to your suggestions and advice. Looking to play the best of games

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is like a baby's-first-RPG kind of a game. It's very simplified. There's very little strategy to it, unlike a real FF game. There's not even much exploring involved. There's an extremely linear path that you follow. Just yawn compared to say FFVI, FFIV or FFI for that matter.

okay, since you meant one game from each series, here goes:

*Castlevania: I suggest the original Castlevania, personally. Be warned-- it's very hard. But at the same time rewarding. The music is great. The colors are great. And you can really see where many other platformers borrowed from it.

*Tomb Raider: The original is excellent, although it has a bit of a wonky camera (like many early 3D platformers). If you feel it too graphically dated, check out Tomb Raider: Legends for Gamecube.

*Devil May Cry: (no experience with these)

*Metroid: The original-- like Castlevania, is a rather important game and rather impressive for its time. HOWEVER, many people complain about the lack of map, which I BELIEVE (somebody verify?) that the map issue was rectified in the GBA remake, Metroid: Zero Mission. So you may prefer that one if you've never played one and won't miss out on the original's nostalgia.

*Silent Hell: (I've only played the first. It was good.)

*Alone in the Dark: (I've only played the GBC version. It's impressive.)

*Nightmare Creatures: (no experience)

*Civilization(Or Age of Empires?): (no experience)

*Clock Tower: (no experience)

*Final Fantasy(looking at you final fantasy 7, and Mystic Quest): As I said, I think Mystic Quest is snooseville and definitely does not offer you any indication of what the series is really like. FFVII is not my favorite. It's good, but it's sort of the line where I start to not like the FF series. I myself prefer I, IV, and VI to start with.

*MMORPG(I opened another topic for this to discuss): (no idea... in case it's not obvious, I'm not a PC gamer)

*Fallout: (no experience)

*Megaman: Mega Man II is amazing. Brilliant and perfect game. Fun, challenging (but not toooo hard) with great music and great levels and well.. it's just pretty perfect. Mega Man III is almost as equally great.

*Fatal Frame: (no experience)

*Monkey Island: The Secret Of Monkey Island is brilliant. It's fun, and funny, and makes you think. With SCUMMVM you can play it most any console/handheld/computer/thing-with-a-screen.

*RE1,2: RE1 is incredible on Gamecube. Then get RE4 for Gamecube.

Now I see what you're saying. I'll comment on series that I have experience with.

*Castlevania- Symphony of the Night, it's a lot of fun and the most newcomer friendly
*Devil May Cry- Probably go with 3 first, it got a lot more polish than the others
*Metroid- Out of the Prime series, the original is my favorite
*Silent Hill- Silent Hill 2, better graphics than the first and the last one in the series that I considered to be really good
*Civilization(Or Age of Empires?)- This depends on what you like more, Empire Earth is like Risk, Civilization is like Axis and Allies. Empire Earth focuses on war, whereas Civilization makes you consider things like economics and politics, etc.
*Clock Tower- My personal favorite is the original one (known as first fear here), the only other one worth playing is Clock Tower 2 (just Clock Tower here)
*Final Fantasy(looking at you final fantasy 7, and Mystic Quest)- You likely wouldn't be disappointed with 7, but you should also consider 6 as it's the best in the series in my opinion. You shouldn't judge a book by it'sa cover, and Mystic Quest is pretty bad
*Megaman- The easiest way to purchase all the classics would be to just get the Mega man Anniversary collection, it comes with 1-8. 2 is the most newcomer friendly, and 3 is probably the most solid in the original series. I would also highly suggest Mega Man X, 1-3 are my favorites and really if you like one you'll probably like them all
*RE1,2: For this please choose the platform, I am lost: psx, GC, or Wii?- Resident Evil is just one of those popular series I could never really get into, but I would definitely suggest the Gamecube/Wii remake of RE1. The Wii version really only has minimal improvements over the GC version

I dont really like the Prime series, the 2D games were just "too" good. I do like Metroid Prime 3 though. They controls work really well on the Wii.

*Castlevania: choose symphony of the night, but you better play one of the classics nes titles their pretty short and straightforward.

*Tomb Raider: tough one, would say the first one. Don't touch 3 or 4 their too weird.

*Devil May Cry: have yet to play but my guess would be the first.

*Metroid: have yet to play but my guess would be the first.

*Silent Hill: the first one of course, but maybe graphics could put you off

*Alone in the Dark: this one is though if you are really retro and can forget about really old blocky 3d go with the first one

*Civilization(Or Age of Empires?): never played civ, age of empires 2

*Final Fantasy(looking at you final fantasy 7, and Mystic Quest): FFVII

*Megaman: 2 or X

*Monkey Island: play the remake of the first one

*RE1,2: PSX versions, you should maybe play 1 remake after playing the original first. don't bother with the ds version, added content gets annoying after sometime but its said to have more bullets. And please play RE4, its a whole different kind of game and of one the best I've played just not classic RE.
