The choice of consoles is just what I have available that I can boot a burned disc from. If I had an Xbox, I'd probably go that route, but I don't. :D
Let's say that you made a GB disc. The complete set is several GB so you'll have to pick-and-choose what you want to play. If at a later point you want to play a ROM (e.g, RacketBoy Together Retro special) that is not on your CD, you'll have to burn another one. You might also waste a few CDs in the beginning to get the emulator setup properly/working.

I just find the whole idea of burning CD/DVDs to be somewhat of a drag when using a hard drive/sd card to be so much easier.

If those platforms are your only option, then I guess that's what you have to live with.

Of all those roms the vast majority are garbage. You'll be able to fit more game than you'll be able to handle for a long time onto a cd, and if for some reason you missed a game burning a disc isn't a big deal.
Playing gb games on a tv is a good time, I really love how gb games look when they're blown up.

meh..for the few cents disks cost now id just get burn the complete set in alphabetical order on multiple disks. then you have all the games and no worries about missing any and having to burn another disk just for a handful of games. thats what i did for playing NES on my PSX and SNES on my PS2
