I wasn't going to worry about the ² if that's the hangup, but you wouldn't say that Sonic CD was a Genesis game, would you? It actually says "PC Engine CD-ROM² System" on it. The Macross game says Super CD-ROM² System. Technically they require add-ons beyond a PCE. But anyway, hopefully my sarcasm detector is just off at the moment.

That depends on if it was called Genesis CD or Mega Drive CD. Would you not accept The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons - Game boy, but only if they put Game Boy Color? And then say "Indeed. Its a Color game, but close enough.". And if you say Game Boy Advance anything I will give you a virtual bop on the head.
